Don't worry!! They were actually safe inside their tank and in no danger. Subaru is actually pretty good, he knows he is allowed to look, but not touch - though I would still never leave them alone with him - he IS still a cat.

Aww, very cute!

Though... interesting, actually. Quite an awesome concept, though I wonder whether this was set up or not... it would be more interesting if it wasn't.

I like how the cat is in the background, blurred so that it feels as if... the cat is ready to pounce on your gerbils there. o.O

The framing isn't too bad, though I feel you could have gone closer, or maybe moved it so that you emphasised the rule of thirds... I think it's fine that they're in the centre, though.

Great stuff. Awesome execution.

This actually was not a set up. I brought the gerbil tank down off their shelf so I could have a better angle to photograph the girls, and Subaru parked himself across from me to watch them. It also helped that the gerbils decided to shred that piece of paper at that moment, so they were relatively still.

I do see what you're talking about with adjusting the framing to use the rule of thirds more effectively. There are so many things to remember when I'm shooting, I inevitably forget to think about something in the moment. But I'm working on it. This time I was pleased that the gerbils (well James - the gray one- mostly) are in focus and there wasn't an excessive amount of noise showing up. Fast moving gerbils in a dark-ish room makes for difficult photography. If I had more money, I'd buy more lamps.

It's ok, Subaru knows to look only. No touchy. Also, they're safe in their tank just in case. It's funny, because they mostly ignore him.
