March 1917 marked the time and date when one of five 0-6-0T locomotives was built by the H.K. Porter Company.
The locomotive was number 15, a dockside switcher for the Brooklyn Eastern District Terminal at Brooklyn, New York.
It saddled on 46 inch driving wheels, weighed in at 128,000 Ibs., developed a boiler pressure of 180 psi, and it produced
a tractive effort of 25,865 Ibs.
Along with sixteen other tank locos on the BEDT, number 15 once performed and worked hard, switching freight cars or
hauling small cars of coal around the docks and onto railroad barges.
This engine was also one of few-remaining tank locos that lasted long until the early 1960's when other railroads moved
on to diesel-powered locomotives at the end of the steam era.
Retired in 1965, number 15 was sold to the South Appalachia Railway at Burnsville, North Carolina for ten years.
In 1975 at the conclusion of War in Vietnam, the side-tank locomotive was again sold to the Toledo Lake Erie and
Western Railway at Grand Rapids, Ohio where it remained on display for twenty-three years.
One day in 1998, two years before the new century, the Strasburg Railroad bought the former BEDT tank locomotive
for the use of hauling regular excursion trains over the 4.5 mile line and return.
Upon arriving at Strasburg, it was discovered that number 15 was going to be difficult to operate for one good reason.
The locomotive's water tanks were too small to go fully around the entire line and back, meaning that it's crew would
have to constantly refill the tank at the East Strasburg station.
A year later when the Strasburg Railroad accepted a movie crew that were filming the line for "Thomas and the Magic Railroad",
the Britt Allcroft Company and the Strasburg Railroad reached a decision to host the Day Out with Thomas events.
To represent the film's major star locomotive; Thomas the Tank Engine, the number 15's crew figured and planned a idea of
first restoring the Ex-BEDT tank loco, then converted the engine into a complete steam-powered replica of the very same movie
star locomotive.
This realistic 'Thomas the Tank Engine' looked precisely different in comparison to the children's beloved steam engine, due to
its notable features included a pair of visible cylinders, a cowcatcher and a dummy coupling hook on its front, but sometimes it
can exchanged for a knuckle coupling if necessary.
Today the former dockside steam switcher is currently in good service, but mostly runs on Day Out with Thomas events, while
primarily found during test runs or switching around the yard on these test runs.
While the BEDT 15 remains as a Thomas the Tank Engine replica, four other of its BEDT sister locomotives remain on display in
the Eastern United States.
More recently in 2014, one example of the saddle tank Brooklyn Eastern District Terminal locomotives was characterized into a
fast-learning dockside switcher for the Thomas the Tank Engine's 14th season.

Been looking for someone to do these. Still creeps me out how the early days of Thomas had the V mark in the pupil. I know it is meant to be the shine in the eye but it looks weird.

Oh that reminds me since you guys did the chassis think we may get a Porter model? He is of the class without the mods to look like Thomas.
