Description

So this is where I do all my art stuff. As you can see I’m fond of natural wood and listening to music loudly.

I work on a Wacom Cintiq 21UX (2. gen) mounted on an Ergotron monitor arm, which I’ve found far more flexible than the original Wacom stand. It’s also easier to push the display out of the way when you need extra room on your desk.

Few days ago I’ve made the decision I’m gonna sell the Cintiq, because I’m not very happy with the screen brightness adjustment possibilities. When I work with it at night, screen fully dimmed, having about 3 lights on, my eyes are burning awfully. :’( Did any of you have this problem?

Anyway, I’m waiting unpatiently for my new toy to arrive. It’s gonna be hard to say goodbye to my good old Cintiq pal after so many years of joy of working on it, but I know the new pen display will be a bit more advanced and I really hope my eyes will be happier.

What kind of digital device are you guys working on? What are your experiences?

I love your set up! I was going to get a Wacom Cintiq 16, but then I learned that the Huion Kamvus Pro 16 was just as good as the Cintiq (costs less too). I didn't buy the stand since my art table can already be set at an angle, but it's a nice little room separated from my own with a chair, lamp, and other stuff like this! I really love the natural colors you used! I saw this cool little lamp that also plays music via bluetooth, but I like to listen to earbuds while drawing. Also, is that Photoshop? I've seen lots of beautiful artwork with it but I'm not sure which one to get. I use Paint Tool SAI now and love it a lot, but what would be a good Photoshop to start with? I heard it can get pretty pricey, but I'm not sure.

Ooh! Awesome! I'm glad it's working out for you! I'll stick with SAI then. I like the program a lot and all my friends use it so they can help me when I don't understand something. I really appreciate it!

What a nice art corner! So much natural lighting!

All I have are my lap or dining table, my 4th gen iPad (for music), a sketchbook, and a pencil. However, I want a digital device but don't know where to start.

Thanks!

Maybe get an iPad 2018 +pencil? They are awesome and there are so many great free art apps to it!

You're welcome!
I've been seeing artists use procreate lately, and it looks amazing. Thank you for the recommendation!

You're very welcome. 😊

Hard choice? Why? You can't decide which model to get?

Ah no. I want a cintiq 13-inch HD, found one for half the price.
But it's still alot of money for a poor fool.   so thats why it becomes a hard choice, for me.

Oh, I see. Yes, I know. I remember I had to work my butt off for a long time to be able to buy my Cintiq. Why are they so overpriced when most of us, artists are starving??? >

Did you think of buying any alternatives instead of Wacom? There are so many good brands around with a bigger screen, better value? Like Huion or XP-Pen?

A bigger screen would be fun but want to make sure I use it as much as I imagien.
And the half price are around the cheaper brand prices too. So be a good starting choice~
But your right, it's horribly pricey when the market is poor artists. Thanks for the input

You have a really nice setup. I love how it's nice and bright!

Right now, I'm using a Huion tablet monitor. To be specific it's called the Huion Kamvas GT-156hd. This is my first ever tablet monitor. I've never used anything other than Wacom so I was nervous to try it at first, but I decided to go for it. It was easy to install. I had to adjust the screen resolution so the colors looked just right, but I really love using it!

Thank you! 😊

I've heard so many good things of these brands, I thought I'd give them a chance, especially since their prices are much more reasonable than Wacom's.

I've made my decision by an xp-pen artist 22e pro, because I got used to working on 21" screen, and I wanted to have the hot keys too, but Huion's version was a bit too pricey...

I hope I won't be disappointed either!

Thanks for sharing your experience.

You're welcome! Yes, I went for the Huion because the price was much more reasonable than Wacom. I hope the XP-Pen works out great for you!
