This is an amazing painting! You worked excellently with all the details and the tail is very realistic! I love it!

Hi Mel,

Was there anything in particular you wanted a comment or suggestions on in this painting?
I think this is a terrific painting.

I love how you depicted the spray from the tail, Great depiction of the foam  and waves.

Has a very good lead into the main focus of the tail. Composition has very nice rhythm, motion and a great feel of power from the position of the flipping tail. Great texture in all the objects.

Has excellent depth in all three areas of the foreground, middle ground and  furthest background.

I'm not real familiar with the actual anatomy of a whale's tail. So I may be wrong here. I think possibly a few more contour  form shadows in the tail( in the darkest area) where it bends forward would have define that area a bit more.  But I realize also that you may have put those in and uploading may have washed them out.

I think you have done a wonderful job on this painting with excellent control of your medium.

this was the first painting i did that wasnt a paint along that I realized I could paint. I did this in either February or March, probably more likely March. The image i used the tail was straight rather than bent but looking at it now i probably would have added shading along the middle point downward just to make it a lot more defined. Just thought I would add it to see what other people thought of it.

I think you did a great job of depicting the tail bending if you were working from a tail that was straight.
that would be very  hard for me to visualize and to do.
