well asked him why he decided to do it, it was a question that had to be asked. his main job was a welder. his answer to the question was well someone had to do it and it was normal for peope to be hung it was accepted by society so didnt seem strange or wrong. He assisted in the hanging of timothy evans  who was 1 of the 4 cases that finally got hanging abolished in the uk
