Description Back a two or three years ago my father lost his job, he worked

there for atleast 20 years, did his job and was fired not because

of his work ethics , but because of down sizing. Yes he did get

hired back, but that's not the case with everyone, the economy

is still recovering and even now, I can't find a job, and I hate it, I

feel like I'm living off my parents when I should be supporting

myself. I hate to hear well " Well if you had a job..." Well yeah if

I could get a job I would be able to do more stuff besides sit on

my computer all day looking for one, and then getting

discourged because there are no part time jobs that I'm qualified

for. Anyways, thought I would make somthing for others who

feel the same way.

Yeah, same here... the economy mus be terrible being well into my mid twenties and still haven't experienced my first job yet I have a degree, I'm either overqualified, under-qualified, lack specific skills/qualifications, now experience despite a good level of experience or simply don't look good enough and sociable enough for the job. I've had all the same excuses.

Same, I've been trying to find a job all summer but it's almost impossible.. I feel bad mooching off my parents. Also, when I apply to places its always the same crap " You need prior work experience to work here!" :/

Yeah that's the problem I keep facing, unless you worked for like a parent or a parents friend it seems like you're out of luck when it comes to finding a job now and days....

DivineNightShade In reply to Rainbow-Fluffy [2012-07-17 02:18:21 +0000 UTC]

Yeah exactly... I remember in the 90s when every teenager I knew had a job like working in restaurants or retail stores, and the adults always had a well paying job.. nowadays I only see adults working in restaurants and retail stores.. and i see VERY few teens working... It's quite sad that so many jobs have been destroyed...

the bad part is too that the teens now already have horrible work ethics.

Back in my law class we were discussing welfare, and these super privileged kids with parents who had connections were all like "no, screw welfare, they should just go get a job." and I was just like "are you stupid?! This is 'The Great Recession'! There aren't a lot of jobs, and even less that can actually support people. Then there are people who CAN'T work!" but they just blew me off. Idiots. Sorry. I've been wanting to complain about that for months.

I've known a few folks going through the same thing, but it's mostly older folks who I see actively seeking jobs. You wouldn't believe how many teens/young adults I've met who I've offered to help get hired on at places where I have connections but you know, their 'above' McDonalds or Walmart/Target etc (the kind of places that are always hiring here). Makes me want to smack their dumbasses but hey, just means the job will go to someone who really wants it. I've got a bunch of younger friends with just such poor work ethic its insane. Constantly being on their cellphones, skipping like a day of work a week. I got lucky recently and was offered a job (highest paying one I've ever had) to replace a girl who did just that or sat on facebook all day. Point is, when you get a job, work hard and be rewarded. Don't work, and the company will find someone who does. I'd ask around if you have any friends with jobs and see if they can keep an eye out for openings. The college you're looking into might also have a work-study program you can look into as well. I hope you're able to find something soon ♥ I worked from the time I was 16 till I was 21 (23 now) then I was out for work for a few months and ungh...my parents were impossible to be around. They do a great job making you feel crappy when you're having a run of bad luck lol.

See I hate that, when you're offered a job and just do nothing, its just plain rude to the other people they hired over you. I understand, its your fault you don't have a job if you have bad work ethic. Which is why I beileve there are so many jobs being sent to china and other countries, because the people there have good work ethics, they show up on time, they DO their job. I started to look for a job when I was 16 too, but like I said I was really focused on my schooling at the time so it wasn't much of a priority to me.

Right on. I've been looking for a job for nearly 6 months, and I'll want to hit any person who tells me that I'm just sitting on my ass while my unemployment plan is giving me money so I can pay my bills on time.......yeah, I have bills too.

Rainbow-Fluffy In reply to XxDiaLinnxX [2012-07-15 17:14:05 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I know the problem for me is that I was focused on school WAY to much, so I never got a a part time job when I was younger. SP know I'm not "qualified" for a job now. My parents are angry with me because they say that their not going to pay for all my college. Which I understand, because they want me to find a part time job so that it looks like I'm giving an effort to pay off my schooling. But then again even when I was younger I couldn't find a first time job because all the older people were taking them.
