Description EDIT: Finally got round to re-doing this picture. Ok list of changes: Repainted fur after seeing beautiful photo of red bay in the sunset. Redrew mane, adding details and lighting effects (to tack also) edited tack, completel redrew ears (they were backward facing before) and just generally improved. Enjoy!

Carriage horse from Palma, this fella had a sign round his neck saying do not touch the horses, but I did anyway He looked so sad for some reason, mind you it was really hot that day.


You have no idea how long this took, my back is killing me, and no I wasn't standing up, I just sit really weirdly I guess.

Again I went for the unfinished/half finished look, just because I like it and it takes too much effort to draw the whole horse, so, blah.

Ok so no before you ask this is not some work of genuis done from scratch, I traced a photo of mine, and eye-dropped all the colours, and for the really difficult parts like parts of the eye or really detailed bits there was a bit of cloning and smudging happening ^^


EDIT: Might change ears to forward facing, they are starting to bug me, any ideas welcome.

lol! I don't do oils either, the time it takes the paint to dry kind of scares me off! Watercolours are tough!! Acrylics are pretty simple to start with though, you should give that a try!

my fine art stuff is very different from my digital art. I love working with raw materials, so nearly all my pieces are painted with natural materials like tea and coffe, and also thread, string, glue and beads. I kinda suck at painting, even Acrylics. That's why i love photoshop, i can paint, but it's so much tidier.

yeah sort of lol, some bits i can do, noses and ears and the shape of the head and what not, but i try and try and try again but things like the eyes i can never do, so i cheat with them, and dont even get me started on the bells

Rain, You've improved SO much, especially your digital art. Looking at your work inspires me to start drawing digitally again and practice a bit more, especially since i've just started Art college.
I absolutely LOVE this piece of work, it's amazing! Well done! You should do tutorials
