Had to get my boy into this class! Bryce is taking a break after TWD so Kayla and Britton jumped in to take Jax to this show <3
Story (1138 words):
“From Italy to Australia?” I glanced over at Kayla while speaking on my phone to headquarters. “How long will we be needed there?”
I nodded at Kayla, continuing on the phone until I had all the necessary information. When we were done I hung up and glanced at the woman standing nearby.
“They want us in Australia a week after the Masters class ends,” I smirked. “It was a last minute decision to give that surfer boy of ours a bit of time off.”
“Well, the White December trek is a lot to ask of someone but yeah, he brought that on himself.” Kayla remarked while sipping her coffee.
We sat at the small dinette table in the room where we were staying in Italy. It had been a wonderful couple of weeks. I had of course showed in the show jumping masters class and when I wasn’t doing that, Kayla and I were free to spend time together.
I could not believe my luck that Wydnshard had decided to pair me up with the amazing and talented woman across the table from me. I smiled again before taking a sip of my own coffee.
“Have you tried these pastries? They are so good, I swear I’ll be ten pounds heavier before this trip is over!”
“Well, you don’t look an ounce bigger and even if you did, you’d still look amazing!” I eyed Kayla, wiggling my brows at her.
“Stop! You know what that look does to me!” She reached over and smacked my arm lightly.
“I definitely do!” I wiggled my brows again before taking a bite of one of the warm pastries on the table.
It was delicious, everything in Italy had been delicious. The pastries, the dinners, and coffee. Everything was fresh and made with the best ingredients.
“So, once we have Tison all taken care of we can enjoy our last few days here exploring and then we’ll have our tickets to Australia.” I went over the itinerary that had come in an email on my phone.
We would have a few more days here in Italy. Then Wydnshard would have their team here to pack up Tison and get her safely to Australia. We would meet Jaxartes, Bryce’s horse there. He would be enjoying a nice long rest in Australia and we would meet him there for the halter show at the Carrai Center in New South Wales.
“This is such a whirlwind!” Kayla exclaimed. “I hope I packed right!”
“The weather is actually supposed to be really nice while we’re there.” I assured her. “And we can pick up anything else you need.”
“Thanks for being so helpful, I’m glad we’re together in this.”
I blushed. “Yeah, me too!”
—
It was the day of our departure now. I patted Tison as she walked to the carrier that would take her to the airport. She looked so cute in all of her traveling gear.
“Don’t let her know you think she’s cute.” Kayla nudged me. “We don’t need any more of her side eye today.”
I laughed. “I think she knows better.”
Tison gave us a frosty glare and then flicked her tail as she was turned by the handler and led to the carrier truck.
“We’ll see you soon Tison!” I waved goodbye to my horse.
She wasn’t really mine, she belonged to Wyndshard but they had her slated as my ride for the foreseeable future so that was good enough for me.
—
The flight was long but both of us enjoyed a couple drinks and then settled down in our first class seats. Wyndshard certainly did their riders right!
Kayla sipped her champagne again before settling back. “A girl could really get used to this life!”
“Right? I was beyond lucky to land a job with them. And having them assign us together? Seriously, it’s the best thing that ever happened to me!”
I wasn’t kidding, I was really living the dream! I glanced across at Kayla before standing to move closer to her seat. I brushed her hair softly away from her face and bent down to give her a soft kiss.
“Sorry, I could imagine going the whole flight without doing that.” I muttered.
“I was hoping you wouldn’t!” Kayla tugged my shirt so that she was closer to me. She kissed me back, with a passion that nearly knocked my socks off!
—
We arrived in New South Wa;es and made our way to our lodging. It was near the Carrai Center and some good restaurants. Since we’d been traveling so much the time change hardly affected us at all.
“Want some,” Kayla paused and looked at her phone for the time. “I’m not even sure which meal it’s time for here.” She laughed.
“Let’s say breakfast. I could go for an omelet.” My stomach rumbled as I spoke.
“Sounds good!”
We would meet Tison at the center later in the day as her flight hadn’t arrived yet.
“I’m sure Jax will recognize us, right?” Kayla pondered while digging into a plate of scrambled eggs.
“Well, he’s Bryce’s horse but he’s been around us a lot so yeah I think he will.”
“He can be bit of a handful sometimes,” Kayla raised her brows. “I mean the horse Britton, not Bryce.”
“Well, he can be too from what I hear from Luna!” I laughed.
—-
We got the the sprawling Carrai Center later that day and met the horses. Both of them seemed fine but still a bit tired. There was at least half a week before the halter event. Thankfully it was only halter or it would have been too much for all of us!
We got Jax out of his stall and turned him loose for a while in the pasture. He kicked up his heels and romped about before rolling in the grass.
“He looks happy enough,” I mused as we watched the stallion. “I’m sure he’ll be just fine with you.”
Kayla nodded as she watched Jax.
—
It was the day of the halter show. We had worked yesterday to get the horses in top condition. Both had gleaming coats and looked fantastic. Kayla was showing Jax and I was showing Tison. Walking a horse on the lead was going to be so much easier than what I’d needed to do for the masters class!
Kayla’s class was before mine so I left Tison tied and walked with her and Jax to the show ring.
“Wow, he looks so good!” I commented.
“Yes, but he’s a bit of a handful, just like I thought he’d be.” Kayla worked to calm the Aralkum stallion down. “As long as he doesn’t spook or act crazy we’ll be fine!”
The two walked into the outdoor arena together, looking extra flashy! I was mesmerized by both of them.
