A pairing easily overlooked - but time that's been spent on it wasn't wasted, not in my case, at least.
I loved it from the first conception of the idea to the last time I read about them/made art.
Riordan should have been in the Calling, it makes little sense that he wasn't.

I just had the inspiration and DANG, I needed to execute the idea. Had few time to do it and a lot of stress, but it feels like a release now that it's done. Duncan x Riordan needs more love! It's an actually pretty obvious pairing, so I wonder why it has those few shippers yet.
Personally, I really like the idea of Riordan being completely head over heels for Duncan and Duncan being in love with him fiercely, but keeping up a facade that only breaks when they're completely alone (together).
Thanks for your compliment on the angle, I have to admit it wasn't an easy one, so it's great to hear it worked out.
According to the background file name it is Weißhaupt, which is the Warden head quarters. Seemed pretty perfect for that scene, to me.
The most tragic part about that one is, Duncan is wrong. It IS their farewell, they never see each other again...
That's why I chose that title. It's kinda misleading, but that's the intriguing part. In the end, it is what happens. Despite Duncan's attempt to be encouraging for Riordan and himself. Oh, this strong and tough Grey Warden. His love story kinda breaks my heart. Especially if I think of Alistair's words: "He hasn't had wife or children, as far as I know, and he was born in Highever, so I'd like to put a monument there" or something.
Yeah, WHY hadn't he have a wife? CAUSE RIORDAN, MAN. Ahhh. My headcanon's killing me.
I'm glad you like the gentle shut-up-gesture Duncan's doing here. It was a kinda important part of the depiction here.

There is something strangely touching that these men who are used and hardened to violence retain these gestures and words. I've always imagined that there is a bond created by those who survived their joining together and my headcanon is that Riordan didn't give a rat's ass about Ferelden when he jumped the border, he was trying to reach Duncan. To my mind maybe the background has a bit to much going on when the importance is in Riordan's eye and Duncan's thumb. Oooon the other side I REALLY wish to know how you did that lighting. All my poses are totally flat.

Goddamn, my headcanon as well. In my mind, he just wanted to end the inner pain he showed no one after learning about Ostagar. In my imagination, he kinda stopped living - and really fighting - when Duncan died. To die fighting ("fighting", to me, it was a classy way to commit suicide) is glorious irony imo. I just love that thought. It's tragically beautiful. You might be right concerning the background, I entertained the idea to blur it a little more, but I kinda failed and tried to tune it's vividness down by darkening most of it.
To do proper (and if you want even colorful) lighting, you can go to options -> lighting parameters and choose maybe blue for light source two, shadow on max. it's my favorite effect.)

Exactly. That's why he's so unemotional, nothing really matters anymore. He tries to do as he guesses Duncan would have wanted him to but his not really engaged.

I...I'm almost speechless. This pairing is so rare and when you popped chapter 1 of 'The Narrow Path' in your favourites I went to have a little graze in you gallery and found this!
So moving, and with the nice warden armour. I like the composition and the angle that stops it from feeling static. It's hard to tell from my crappy work monitor (yes, I'm at work

I kinda felt the same when I went to your gallery. Been looking for the narrow path for a while, since I always saw a few artworks connected to it, but had forgotten where to find the written version. Ahh, gosh, so glad we are three now! Maybe even more if I count the readers in.
Riordan and Duncan are THE Duncan pair, I swear.

The best thing to happen is touching people with art or making them feel something. That's just so great and when the idea popped in, I immediately HAD to start working on the picture. Ahh, and warden armor. Yes, warden armor!
Seems I need to do a few new mods since they were so much younger and everything when they worked and were together.
Gosh, it's one of the most intriguing Dragon Age pairings.
Ah, and thanks for mentioning the light. I edited it a hundred times and wasn't really sure if it's good as it is. Almost ended up increasing the black, which I haven't in the end, so it seems that smooth as it is now. Glad I made the right choice, as it seems.

Yes we are a few now, even some converts apparently. 
That Warden armour looks fantastic but damn it must be complicated to draw, even worse than the rogue armour.
I see Duncan's and Riordan's relationship as a kind of buddy thing that simply goes a bit further. In fact, me and Olive initially didn't intend for them to be anything but close friends but sometimes stories have a life of their own.
Modding the two to look younger...oh yes! That would be amazing to see!
