Wow there aren't as many basefags coming here as I had thought there would be. Well, save for the kids probably coming from some 12 year old's reaction journal. looool. If you're wondering why I'm calling basefags out for their shit, is, well, because they are lazy shits. There's no getting around it. They don't want to be labeled for what they are, so they send angry comments fighting so hard to scare me off of my opinion; while not proving me wrong of course. If anything they are just proving how butthurt and immature base users are.
Listen kids, if you want to learn how to draw, don't doodle over someone's shitty trace of Rozen Maiden. Actually take the time to learn the basics of anatomy, lighting and form the only way you really can: by drawing them. Avoiding drawing something is not going to teach you how to draw something. This isn't primary school anymore, it's deviantart.
So please stop insulting artists who don't cop out of learning the hard bits by posting shit to get free page views. You're not helping the community here or yourself.

Bases are made for the sheer fun use. Also, if I hadnt used bases growing up, my art would probably be a lot different. It helped me learn how to draw poses and other things.

True or not, I still prefer to not use them at all and simply make my own drawings, regardless if they're drawn well or not, in fact I can take drawing poorly over using bases.

I use bases when im out of inspiration and not all bases are just people tracing stuff! so it's not okay to call People basefags just because they feel like using a base! it's not a tracing of rozen maiden or something like that! bases are fine there's nothing wrong with using a base! bases are fine for a beginner and if you look at one of the bases i used you can clearly fuckin see its not just doodling over shit,im bad at poses but can draw stuff by myself i just use bases on computer because i dont have a drawing tablet yet

I'm perfectly fine without bases, I just use them when I'm bored. Not only that but I can't post any art because my tablet is broken, so I can only do traditional art, and I don't own a phone either. *shrug*

You can always do better. Your art still needs a lot of work on its anatomy.
Bases (especially anime ones) cripple anatomy and they're notorious for that.
There's a reason why art teachers do not like/want students to have anime/anime-based art in their portfolios.Β
And they are also strict on copying others work, which is essentially what bases are. Just copying while Frankenstein-ing other colors/details onto it.

The reason I have said the things that I have said to you is because, I knew a classmate who used to use bases in art class. And she only used anime ones as well.The art teacher kind of caught wind of what she was doing and she gave us all a lecture on how bases and tracing is not real art. And if we wanted to grow into real artists, we must practice from the "boring" basics. And she deemed anime as un-real, copy/paste tripe..which I don't entirely disagree with.
(It's fine to like anime and whatever, but it is kind of copy/pate corporate fluff. I still like Berserk and FMA but...ya know.)

i would like to disagree, bases are somewhat useful for begining artists, they can use it to practice anatomy and even develop an artstyle, as long as the base is credited, there is no issue using it, you're pretty damn rude to call people basefags for using bases, it is not always a bad thing.
