Description Ria leaned against the wall, taking a long sip from her glass. As she felt the soda cool her hot body, she looked across the packed room. She was at her best friend's Halloween party, which pretty much half their school was at.

And she was all by herself.

She shook her head - no way was she going to get in that frame of mind. She tilted back her glass, gulping down the remains. Putting down the empty cup, she re-entered the mass of teenagers pulsating with the music.

Work it, make it, do it, makes us harder better faster stronger

As she wormed her way through the crowd, she noticed a couple of her friends waving to her, miming "get your ass over here and dance with us!"

She slid into a gap next to them, laughing as her friend's boyfriend tried to do the sprinkler and hit another guy in the face, causing a bit of a fight that was stopped by their girlfriends.

The song changed seamlessly, and the moving mass of bodies changed their dancing to match the beat of the song.

Imma be, Imma be, Imma be, Imma be...

Her own hips mimicked the other girls in the room, bouncing, shaking, twisting with the song. She let herself get lost in the dancing, didn't think, didn't try, just went with the music. Soon enough she was dancing with another guy, one she vaguely recognized as being in her history class. He grinned at her, and she grinned back, messing up her hair. The song reached it's lull, then the beat picked up.

Imma be rockin like this, what -

As the teenagers moved with the beat faster and faster, she let her body's instincts take over, and had free space in her brain to look at the guy she was dancing with. He looked at her, and at her body. She rolled her eyes internally - this guy was failing spectacularly at covering up his hormones.

His eyes were blue-green, and he had short, slightly curly brown hair. He was well muscled, and taller than her -

This guy's eyes, his hair, his body - which were roaming her body freely now, as his hands held her hips - were almost like...

She looked away, quickly, behind him - and made eye contact with another guy in the crowd.

His eyes were blue green, his hair was brown and curly, and he had one hell of a body.

She started shoving her way out of the crowd in the opposite direction as fast as possible, to the voiced confusion of her friends and momentary dance partner.

The song changed.

Now you're gone

No.

I realize my love for you was strong...

This couldn't be happening.

And i miss you here, now you're gone

She had forgotten about him, about that day -

I keep waiting here by the phone...

She pushed her way out of the crowd, ignoring the cursing from annoyed dancers towards her. She moved along the wall, going over to the table laden with snacks and drinks and grabbing another soda.

The can obscured her blurry view for a few moments as she chugged some of it down - wait a minute.

Blurry?

She set down her can and put a trembling finger up to her eye, and wiped away wetness.

She had forgotten him. Gotten over him. He had left her -

And now he was standing right in front of her.

He looked down at her, unreadable - she couldn't see his face, the light was from behind him, on the dance area. He lifted up a hand, and wiped away a tear that had rolled down her cheek.

"Ria-"

"No!"

She ran for it. Her vision was completely blocked by treacherous tears, but she pounded her way through the huge house anyways, completely unaware of the sound of feet running after her.

Is this the way it's meant to be? Only dreaming that you're missing me

She must have passed the door by now, she frantically thinks - she trips over the stairs, and scrambles up them, seeking safety in the empty upstairs.

Now you're gone

She tripped again, at the top of the stairs, and hit the wall, catching herself.

I realize my love for you was strong

Ria sobbed, her heart aching. She turned around, taking a step - her foot met open air, and she fell forward, down the stairs.

Are you ready?

She landed.

Not against sharp stairs, with gravity pushing her further down, but against something warm.

A very well muscled, curly haired something.

"You IDIOT! What were you doing?!"

Her heart nearly stopped as his arms encircled her and tightened. But.... it wasn't a bad stopping.

It was a stopping that made her heat up, and her heart resume at a pace twice as fast.

"Matt... why...."

He looked at her now, his eyes burning into hers.

"Why what?"

"Why... why are you here?!"

She started struggling, all the hurt and pain from that day flooding once more into her, causing tears to roll down her cheeks.

Matt only held her tighter.

"Because I love you!"

She froze.

Her mind flashed back to that day.

Ria sat at a table in the cafe, waiting for Matt. She was nervous - he had asked her to meet him there, after she had told him that she liked him via her house phone before it cut off due to low battery.  She got a text on her cell phone - which she had wore out all her minutes on talking to her best friend - from him, simply saying to meet at that cafe at 2 o clock the next day. So there she was...
Minutes passed.
No Matt.
Minutes wore into hours.
No Matt.
The store closed, and she left - driving home, tears streaming, she swore that was the last time she would cry over a boy.

"That day I got in an accident driving to the cafe, and i was kept there because the other person had insurance issues and kept complaining that they were hurt. By the time I got away, the cafe had closed, you weren't there, and you wouldn't answer your phone!"

Ria stared, openmouthed, at him.

"But... at school, I never saw you...."

"That's because my idiot counselor saw fit to change my schedule mid semester since I had asked to change one class."

Ria's body started shaking, and she was crying all over again, sobbing.

Matt's face lost it's intensity, and a worried, frantic look replaced it, as he held her close and asked, "What's wrong, Ria??"

"I - can't believe - I - was so stupid - I... I still love you!"

She looked up at him, her breath catching in her throat, tears still flowing, as his eyes widened, his breath catching in his throat as well. His stillness lasted for merely a split second however...

Since the next second he kissed her.

Her heart melted, and became whole once again - their heat intermingled as their lips met passionately. She put her arms around her neck as he held her in the air, their hearts racing together.

I'll be thinkin' about you every day
