Description This story is based off the Alice in Wonderland book. No, I do not take credit for that book... but the plot/idea/real-world-characters and etc in this story belong to me - so please do not steal!!

After this chapter, the story gets dark, and somewhat scary. Do read at your own risk, mkay?
Hope you enjoy it!

CHAPTER 1

I leaned my head against the doorway, looking in on the scene before me. A jock, a prep, the class clown, the quiet guy, the emo...
"You alright, Karen?" asked Drew, my boyfriend. Add him and myself, and we made one hell of a group.
"Yeah. I just had this entirely random premonition that I will soon have a headache, that's all," I replied. He laughed, which made me grin too; at least there was one person whose company I would enjoy this afternoon.
"Kevin, you ass, get over here, dammit!" yelled Josh, the complete personification of the term jock. He chased Kevin, a lean, tall blonde, around the desks, attempting to hit him with what appeared to be a binder. It was so ripped and neglected, though, that I wasn't entirely sure if it was in fact a binder, or just a stiff pile of used, dirty tissues.
"Or you'll do what? Flex your muscles at me?" Kevin laughed as he avoided another swing of the binder. At that last miss, Josh completely lost it, and made a rush at the table between them, obviously intending to bring Kevin down with that; however, rather than making contact with the table using his hands, he met it with his face. Hard. Hard punctuated with a crunch.
Drew casually moved in his foot, which was previously curiously near the area that Josh had misstepped and proceeded to acquaint himself with the table. "I didn't know that you and that table were such good friends, Josh," said Drew innocently.
"Drew, you asshole...!" Josh, hand to his nose to stem the flow of an awful nosebleed, stepped menacingly towards him. I stepped between the two, arms crossed. "Oh, if it isn't Little Miss Perfect! Breaking up the fight? Or just sticking up for your boyfriend because he's too chicken to fight like a man?" Josh sneered, and made a grab for my hair. Right then, Kevin grabbed his shoulder, and, turning to see who it was, Josh's face then met Kevin's fist. Letting go of my hair, he stumbled backwards into my boyfriend, and turned right into another punch, this one from Drew. He reeled backwards, lost his balance, and fell to the ground, groaning. His face wasn't looking too great, and a stream of unintelligible curses were flowing freely from his split lips.
Wisely, though, Josh decided to stay on the floor.
Drew put his arms around me, placed his chin on the top of my head, and nonchalantly commented, "No one messes with my girlfriend. Asshole." He glared at the jock while giving me a peck on the cheek.
Kevin dusted his hands and said, "You know, women really don't appreciate guys acting like jerks. I'd recommend a new tactic to get a girlfriend, Josh." He loped over to me and hugged me from the side, rubbing our cheeks together. "Poor Karen! You alright?"
"Perfectly fine, Kevin... and I know we've been friends for years, but could you get off?"
"Geez - get a boyfriend, and I can't even stand within five feet of you..." Kevin rolled his eyes, but eventually let go - but not before kissing my cheek. Before Drew could pop a blood vessel at his best friend, I asked Kevin what had set Josh off in the first place.
"Oh, he was complaining about how he was being made to clean up the classroom even though it wasn't his fault that sharpie got everywhere, so I told him to shut up and that it obviously wasn't his fault, seeing as he was no where near as genius as me."
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"Funny you should ask – he wanted to know too. I told him that I was the only one brilliant enough to get a sharpie fight started between him and me and make it seem to everyone as though he started it."
"Sometimes I almost feel sympathy for Josh..." I shook my head.
"You totally should!" said a high, obnoxious voice. I looked over and saw that it was coming from Sarah, the school's most popular and preppy girl; as usual, she was holding her cell phone.
"Well, seeing as he's usually commenting on my boobs or making fun of my taste in music and men, I don't care quite THAT much," I replied, rolling my eyes.
"Your taste in music DOES suck. I mean, who DOESN'T like Usher??" she sneered, eyes on her phone as she continued texting.
"I don't hate him, Sarah, I just prefer other music, thank you very much-"
"What, like your indie CRAP? That's not music, that a bunch of gay fa-" Josh interrupted, starting to sit up, but was quickly reunited with the floor thanks to Kevin's foot.
"Like I said – choose your words, Josh," Kevin grinned, somewhat menacingly.
"Uh-uhm, shouldn't we start cleaning...?" A hesitant voice from the corner asked. We all turned to look at Zack, who was practically trembling from the unwanted attention.
I sighed. "Zack's right, guys. We might as well clean up this sharpie mess that Kevin got us into -"
"HEY! It was Josh, remember?" Kevin winked.
"In any case," I grinned, "I don't think any of us want to be stuck here with each other longer than necessary, so let's get to work."
"Whatever. I don't know why I'm even here – you guys can clean up your mess yourselves," said Jamie, a girl in all black to compliment her equally dark hair and to contrast her pale complexion.
"Come on, Jamie, you hafta help us – you're stuck here too until it's cleaned up! And you can't sneak out, Kevin already tried. The security guard and the principal are chatting it up down the hall," Drew said, releasing me.
"Hmph. I was just listening to music, that idiot over there -" she pointed at Josh, "was the one who threw the sharpie at me."
"COME ON, guys, let's just get this over with, okay?" I said, heading to the cabinet that held the cleaning supplies.
"It's too bad some people can't avoid sharpies, huh..." Kevin sighed dramatically, shaking his head with his hand to his forehead.
"HEY! Watch what you say, skinny!" Josh, finally back to his feet, said, whirling to face Kevin, who was suddenly inches from him.
"And SOME people don't have an IQ high enough to realize who threw said markers, let alone make a decent comeback..." Kevin grinned, his blue eyes suddenly firey.
"Surely not anywhere near as high as the crumpled ball of paper that you threw at the teacher to make her turn and see our corner of the classroom throwing sharpies at one another," Drew added, smirking.
"SHUT... UP!!" Josh yelled, once again losing his temper. He lunged for Drew, but Kevin stuck his foot out and tripped him as Drew jumped back, and Josh instead toppled into Zack. They both crashed to the ground in something of a compromising situation.
Josh groaned, clutching his head, then, hearing the stifled laughing coming from around him, opened his eyes to see Zack right below him, and his hand on Zack's wrist, while Zack's hand – there in the desperate failed attempt to stop the fall – on his back.
"Soooo... interested in the quiet glasses type, huh?" Kevin said, grinning. Josh jumped to his feet and stomped over to the windows and leaned against them, obviously pissed off. Zack was still on the floor, fixing his bent glasses and attempting to hide his very flushed face.
"As much as I'd love to watch the class idiot 'find' himself, I don't want to be here. Seriously," Jamie said apathetically.
"Way to put a damper on a hilarious situation, Ms. Sunshine..." Kevin commented, but he shrugged his shoulders and went over to the cabinet and flung open the doors. "Oh hey, Josh, isn't this the closet that you came out of today? You really oughta put in a light or something, I can't see a thing..." Josh snapped his head up and growled, but I noticed something strange and interrupted.
"Hey... do you guys hear a clock ticking?"
    Everyone froze and listened.
Tick, tock. Tick, tock. Tick, tock...
"It sounds like it's coming from the closet..." Drew said, and went over to the pitch black cabinet. We all drew near, and as we did so, the ticking grew louder, and louder.
"Where the heck is it coming from?" I said, peering in.
"A clock, duh," said Sarah, shoving her phone in her pocket for once. I rolled my eyes at her.
We crowded in even closer, trying to see at least the back of the closet, if not the old-fashioned sounding clock that the noise must have been coming from.
Zack, having just fixed his glasses, got up and walked over, wanting to see as well. Right as he got to the back of the classroom, though, he tripped over a chair that had been pulled out, and fell forwards, right into our backs, causing us all to tumble into the cabinet...
And keep tumbling, right into nothingness.
     Tick, tock.
    Tick, tock.
     Tick, Tock.
    Tick, Tock.
    TICK, TOK.
"You're late, you're late... for a VERY important date......."
