Gotta love film....cyan emulsion only?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Rainsenigma In reply to T-DA2 [2012-06-20 14:27:47 +0000 UTC]

Actually it was shot with a DSLR and made into a digital negative. I then took some of the cyanotype chemistry and blobbed it on the paper and used a can of compressed air to spread it only on certain parts of the paper. After that I just laid the negative over the paper and exposed and developed it.

I adore the blues and light, it's so strong it makes this almost creepy- and using light colours too, which isn't too easy to pull off. Excellent.

Rainsenigma In reply to psychodelic-candy [2012-06-20 02:10:11 +0000 UTC]

You should, it's a pretty awesome process. I would lay down minor amounts of chemistry onto the paper and then use a can of compressed air to spread it around. This was the result.

That's very original approach.
I just started working with analogue large format camera and I'm very interested in alternative processes.
Thanks for sharing your work!

Rainsenigma In reply to georgeio-joe [2012-06-20 14:26:02 +0000 UTC]

I did it with a process called Cyanotype. All you need is water to develop it.

how did you do this? its absolutely wonderful!!!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Rainsenigma In reply to Sarahbabie [2011-05-07 00:18:25 +0000 UTC]

Thank you It's a type of photograph called a Cyanotype. What I did is I made a mixture of Ammonium iron(III) citrate and Potassium ferricyanide and then splattered it onto paper and let it dry. These chemicals mixed together make the paper photo sensitive so they need to stay in a dark room. I then made a digital negative of the photo of my father (though normal negatives would work as well) and then placed it on the chemistry coated paper. I then exposed the paper with the negative on it to UV rays for about 10 minuets and then soaked the paper in water. The water develops it and makes it so it's no longer photo sensitive. I used UV bulbs to the the exposing, but simple sunlight will also work. Other then the chemistry all you need it water and sunlight to make photos like this.

Sarahbabie In reply to Rainsenigma [2011-05-07 01:56:50 +0000 UTC]

wow! well, are you using the traditional method of developing film then? I'm assuming with the dark room and all. I have a nikon d3000 so I'm all digital... Do the chemicals also turn them blue? I'm curious, because I love new ideas for photography and ya never know !

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Rainsenigma In reply to Sarahbabie [2011-05-07 02:06:33 +0000 UTC]

No, I'm shooting in digital and then making digital negatives out of the files. The process makes all the prints blue like that, but you can tone them in tea, coffee, wine, and other things of that sort to change the color of the prints.
