Sure enough the dark cat character has a major overbite... So do I, guessing he is also a "conspiracy theorist" if this is headed where I think it is.

I don't know about this being a racism thing, necessarily. This could very well be an exaggerated metaphor for the conflicts between the rural and urban classes.
edit: Okay, apparently I worded this really badly. Basically, my analysis of that guy's attitude is that it's an exaggerated version of the city snob stereotype, with blaze as a stand in for rural folk.

Yes, I agree since, you know, EVERYTHING IS RACIST NOWADAYS!
Got something against illegal immigrants? RACIST!
Got something against homophobic(!) religious aspects? RACIST!
Say something about ANYTHING really that is just loosely attached to a minority? You get the idea.

I hope this SJW mentality is just a phenomenon of the time and will be wiped out soon or later (hopefully soon).

I mean, some people could be doing it ironically/sarcastically. I left a comment long ago that was like "so basically that means the entire city is fucking racist" but I wasn't being serious (besides, I don't see how racism 100% fits with this comic since Racism is about discriminating someone for their skintone and nationality. Maybe it fits in some aspects but I honestly believe all the judgement and prejudice is specism, not racism but anyways)

but i agree :T i'm all for equality man, but by god do i not like SJWs.

Len probably has a good reason for this, tbh. Most likely along the lines of someone he knows/knew was injured/killed by a forest dweller and he just sorta built up distrust towards them all for fear of getting hurt again. I figure because I know my tropes and LEN IS AN ANGSTY GUY hiding behind a sarcastic neeeeeeerd! (or he's both)

In other news, expressions are on *point*.

ViktoriaMagrey [2017-06-23 04:59:23 +0000 UTC]

Listen, I know everyone is saying this is a metaphor for racism or some sort of discrimination. To be honest I have no idea what exactly to make of it, but to be fair, I do encounter a very real problem here, as far as saying he's being discriminating is concerned, because I'm siding with Len here.

Foxes, even the talking kind, are still wild animals. They did not develop the same thing felinians did, and who knows what kind of things they have that would not be appropriate for a society? You do understand what I'm saying, right? What if there is something...else to him? The different DNA might have clashed together. His behavior is unpredictable, not to mention he was raised more like his father than anything and has serious problems, emotionally speaking, and he can't know how to react in a big city, who to trust, or how to have proper social interactions. I'm not talking about Blaze being dangerous or anything because he came from a forest, but he's pretty unstable already, and completely un-adapted to the civilized world. All I'm saying besides that is that they're taking a gigantic responsibility by doing this. They cannot direct him anymore; he's essentially an adult who can take care of himself. Trying to teach him like a child won't work, and would be a pathetic move on their part. I don't think they're thinking this through.

WAIT. WHAT. No, that does not excuse him talking about Blaze like this. He is a real person in their cat-world and they're all talking felines with intellect. And I adore Blaze as a character. And I trust him. But realistically, couldn't Len have a point IF he follows this logic? …If he's just doing it for some other reason, then yeah, sure.

...I hate these things. They make me feel bad and borderline racist.

MakenTosch In reply to ViktoriaMagrey [2017-06-24 18:06:44 +0000 UTC]

There is logic to what Len is saying. Why is the borderwall there? Does it have something to do with what ferals (forest dwellers) did? Or is it because of the those "what-you-call-it" creatures that lurk in the shadows and kill anything in sight that just so happen to be dwelling in the same forests as every other forest dweller? The city dwellers might think that the shadow creatures are just myths used to describe the rest of the forest dwellers or ferals as Len calls them and probably don't realize that the shadow creatures are not a myth but an actual thing which really puts a crimp on the efforts of progressives. In the case of regular ferals in the forest, how can they progress socially with city dwellers (or felinians) when these mythical creatures are going around causing problems making every other forest dweller or feral look bad in the process? Then there is the social interactions between ferals themselves which doesn't seem to improve given the level of social isolation hinted by Blaze growing up. Just look at how he reacts when he sees a city dweller for the first time in years or how he doesn't trust others like him in the forest. He even killed someone in the process which is never an easy thing to do to your own kind. He does act feral in multiple ways and we're not even sure if he wants to change that pattern of behavior yet. How will he react if someone steals from him in the city like what happened to him when he was young? Will he kill again only this time in the city in front of hundreds of people? The story is still young.

The problem with this divide between forest dwellers and city dwellers seems to require an extremely complex solution to a seemingly simple problem which means there is probably no hope for if these talking felines are emulating humans in any way at all. Since they seem to have adopted some human cultures and behaviors over generations, then we will likely never see a practical solution to the problem. Humans always wanted simple solutions for seemingly simple problems. The problem is that some of these seemingly simple problems require complex solutions that take humans out of their comfort zones and take time to get use to which is why such solutions are often ignored and shunned because humans want results NOW and are generally impatient. And when they come up with a solution like that, it becomes a real mess that will last for years (if not generations) even though it probably took a few weeks to put together the solution.

You do raise another thing I hadn't really thought about, which makes this whole thing seem even more true. Why was there a border in the first place? I mean, this ties in with the rest! To be honest it always seemed incredbly fishy to me that even in the original cover of the story Swift, who was a fox himself and left his kid scarred for life physically and emotionally, and also tried to straight up drown him because he thought he would replace him was always near those creatures. I'm not liking that. I feel like there's some connection between those creatures and the forest dwellers there, and the messed up ideas Swift got early on in the story, because we already know they had something to do with it directly when...You know...Yeah.

Len says that there's laws against this for a good reason. Despite the incompetence of the guy in the border, there must be something more nefarious going on. Something that they might have partially forgotten about and assumed something else. That or they do know something they're not letting on. Blaze might have killed in self-defense, but once you do something like that there is no going back. I can't believe we are putting this much logic on a story like this but this has to be adressed. It's pretty weird, but it seems that their need to follow after humans has done more wrong than good at this point. And they don't even know how far the problem goes, so this is going to be real fun to watch...

I wish I could write an in depth response, but I don't have much time today.
