I know what you mean. I ended up ditching a comic of mine a few years back because I felt like I made too many mistakes with it. I definitely don't feel like you made any mistakes with your first chapter, but I can see how you would feel that you did. I intended to redo the comic, but didn't want to start all over again. I admire your dedication, even if I don't see the flaws you feel were there.
I'm rambling a bit, but what I'm saying is... I know how you feel. We both had the same experience and just went different ways. There is no "right" or "wrong" decision at this point, as both ideas have their merits. I'll stick it out for you.

Can anybody stop blaming Swift for hurting a kid? He ran away with tears afterwards. What the fuck?

no??? he took out his son's eye??? and he tried to kill his own child because he was afraid that marina cared more about her child than she did about swift??? and he apparently wasn't aware that blaze was a child who deserved positive attention??? regardless of whether or not you think there is such thing as "good people" and "bad people", that dude is completely to blame for hurting blaze. unless he was possessed or mind-controlled or something.

A shadow-wolf just manipulated him in to doing that. And him scarring his son's eye represents how too much he been through, he been manipulated, his emotions got vulnerable, and his actions got him so impulsive enough, he realized that he FUCKED UP!
But i cannot believe the creator admits he is a bad person, and I don't know why? Maybe a reread, i mean there was a backstory where some bitch ditches him for being such a jerk?! Wow! It makes sense now to see he is a bad person, but able to be complex enough. Maybe the "good" and "bad" labels can be a little complicated...... maybe characters are neither good or bad, they are just what they are. Blazes kill off a fox out of impulse, nobody's perfect.......

i have no idea what to say to "it wasn't his fault, he was manipulated into killing his child by some THING in his dream!" at the moment. but swift was only manipulated into killing his child the FIRST time. when that happened, he was like "oh nyoo what have i doonnnee". the second time was after shadow wolves had *killed his wife*. no shadow wolf manipulated swift into cutting up his child's face and leaving him to die in the woods.
also, didn't blaze kill that wolf because said wolf stole blaze's only food in the past 3 days? and blaze was *really* young back then, not to mention starving to death.
don't use "nobody's perfect" to excuse a father cutting up his innocent child's face before abandoning that child in the woods, please. swift may have had his reasons, but his reasons weren't good or reasonable.
his reasons for attempting to drown his innocent child was "my wife cares more about her OWN, VERY YOUNG CHILD more than she cares about ME, A GROWN MAN WHO CAN HOLD HIS OWN. the child must die so she can love me again"
his reason for cutting up his child's face and leaving him in the middle of the woods was "it's entirely your fault marina died. entirely." he had no reason to think that it was blaze's fault that marina died at all. (if anything, one could blame swift for not letting marina know that there was something dangerous in the woods and not giving her a good reason not to go in there. don't think i AM that one who blames swift, though. swift was not at fault for marina's death.) it was the shadow wolves. he actually saw them kill her.
there's a fine line between "just not fit to be a father" and "abusive and violent", my dude.

he was once a good guy but he just broke with the fear of abandonment from his parents and nira
he was no longer fit to be a father to blaze or a good mate to marina once he tried what he did and was the bad guy right away in that moment

I think there were a lot of things going on his head, after his mind manipulated by a Shadow-wolf. This traumatizes him, and accidentally scarred his child for anger impulse. Swift cannot believe what the fuck he done to his child, so he ran off, hurting the only child of his own, and going like, "WHAT THE FUCK DID I JUST DONE?!" A trauma so traumatizing, it scarred him for life! Swift now punished himself frequently for his own fault of being easily manipulated to killed of his child, accidentally got his wife killed off and hurting his child. He is now FUCKING INSECURE AND PYSCHOLOGICALLY DAMAGED TOO because all of it was made by those fucking mysterious Shadow-Wolves! FUCK YOU SHADOW-WOLVES! Thus making the webcomic an intense drama balanced with dry comedy (not my sense of humor, though, i like visual humor instead), making it the greatest webcomics ever made. What an realization i have discovered.
