(also leans in- one more question, for the yellow starspeckles, did you place each dot individually or do you use a brush?? i always wind up placing freckles/speckles individually but i'm always about what other people do especially because it looks so natural on this picture and i keep looking at that and being wowed ; o ; )

yup, each dot is put on there one at a time!
literally whatever the default brush is on SAI, I don't have a starry or speckle brush. >w<;;
the closest I have is a "blood" brush in Photoshop, which is actually what I used for the snow on Flan's MYO reference. xD
sometimes brush freckles look amazing! but Axel's spots looked like they had a pattern, so I wanted to reflect that <3
For mass freckles like his I work in large circles- just placing dots wherever, then stopping by where the concentrated yellow spots are with extra.

oh man that's awesome, you're honestly fab at bringing out the patterns in the speckling, i'm gonna have to look more at the patterning cos i tend to be a little willy-nilly about it > n > ;; (and also the snow in flan's ref looks fabulous, i feel i should say!)
