Frank Castle: "Hide in plain sight. Try it. It works."
From the Punisher: Welcome Back Frank comic mini-series, issue 02 of 12
In Von Lipwig's case, he took it a step further. Vetinari must have seen Moist as one of his more brilliant accomplishments, takin' a conman an' using his skills to revive the post office an' the banks. So many criminal scum in real-life have claimed to have turned their lives around, but Moist not only actually turned it, he transformed it. An' all the while without realizin' he was doing it. He's still conning people, but now it's for the city, not himself.
I like your illustration of the Suit. Here, it is clearly shown that it isn't the actual quality or authencity of the suit that counts, its the image you portray wearing it. To reinforce my claim, just imagine someone tryin' to pass off Foul Ole Ron as an eccentric billionare...

My favorite Punisher comic/the only one I've actually read is 'Archie Meets the Punisher' - a for-reals thing! Sheer ridiculousness.
Do you suspect, as I do, that Vetinari is grooming Moist to be the next patrician? And have you seen the movie 'Catch Me If You Can?'
The criminal types who actually turn their lives around tend not to brag about it, I would think, and just remain quietly law abiding. Moist's biggest con is of himsownself.
I've seen illustrations of the suit where it's all the same color of gold, and I don't think it's as impressive. Moist also needs high collars and tight cravats to hide the rope burn : )
Apparently, back in the day, the publisher of Mad Magazine, William M. Gaines, (who was a millionaire, but always contrived to look like a hippy-hobo) and could never get good service in restaurants. He enjoyed seeing the waiter's faces when he pulled out an enormous pile of cash. Image is important! But subverting people's expectations can be fun too!

I love your Moist! I like how you made him shiny, it looks fabulous.
Moist is my favourite characters of all times, as you can see on my username and sure fav from Discworld. They are making the movie!

Thank you so very much! Glad to meet somebody else who's such a Moist-in-particular fan. I am very much looking forward to the movie! I saw a preview of it at the Discworld con they had in September. They filmed it in Budapest I think, how far away is that from you? I don't know my european geography very well, but if I had been nearby, I would have visted so I could have been an extra in the background. The guy playing Moist is a great actor, I watched his show Coupling.

I just pulled up a map, yeah, that's a bit far. I actually have to do a similar length drive next week from my house in California to Tucson, Arizona. My friend Pat lives in London, but he flew to budapest to be in the movie, but Pat is a MonsterDiscworld fan even more so than the usual.
I certainly do take commissions! Cost is depending on how complicated it ends up being, and it will take a little while since I don't have much free time, but what would you like?

I know something about monster discworld fans, my brother is such. He calls himself Teatime, that is so...wrong. ^^
I don't think I could pay you NOW so you don't need to draw for me NOW. I just thought it would be nice to have own Moist to put into avatar and deviantID and on message boards as av.

I love every and all of Discworld, it's so brilliant, but Moist is the best and definitely brightest as far I'm concerned! Thanks very much for enjoying what I've done with him!

Disco Moist! I had never thought of it like that, but yeah, it makes perfect sense. I need to come up with some music I think Moist would like. Also, I have a golden pinstriped zoot suite : )
I hope it can appear on some official Discworld merchandise too! That would be fantastical.
Thanks for the kind words!

those are very Moisty songs for very obvious reasons, I think! Have you heard the Monty Python Money song? I always think of that one.
I do in fact, have the entire Moist Ensemble, including golden hat and winged shoes. I'm considering dressing for him for a day at the San Diego ComicCon, but I'm not much of a cosplayer...
Also debating going to the first ever north american discworld con they're having in Arizona in Septembuary.

aw, thank you again! I don't think sneaker shoes fit in specifically with Discworlds medieval/victorian ethos, but I figured it worked, and who cared? I've actually now sewn tiny wings on my shoes too.

I love the shoes and pinstripe pants--very Doctor Who-like, which is sort of Moist's personality in a way? Maybe not. Still, great suit (the differing shades look very classy!)

Thank ya! Yeah, he does sort of have a Doctor Who thing going on, I don't think that was intentional, I just like pinstripes and converse sneakers with wings on. Still, if David Tennant played Moist in some sort of movie, I don't think I'd mind!

I need to make more artwerks just so I can have you compliment me on them.
I think, my take on discworld will be about 60% Victorian, 20% medieval, and the rest bricabrac of my own devising. Pinstripes make everything better, and as for the shoes -- I toyed with boots and professional business man type shoes, but the sneakers just seem to fit. Discworld is such a hodge-podge universe anyway, I'm sure someone's invented the sneaker (for assassins and unseen university students to sneak properly)
Actually, with the pinstripes, converse sneakers, mussy hair, and etcetera, Moist is starting to look like David Tennant. Only 20 pounds heavier, because he's from Uberwald
