Love the combination of the running water and the ice in the foreground! Very well taken!

Sounds good: living in the mountains. Our highest hill (in the south of our country, is about 60 meters I think. So no mountains here, we'll have to go abroad to see mountains.

Well, the nearest mountain (within my town limits) is over 800 metres. It's not the height above sea level that counts, though. The mountains around here are of volcanic origin, which means they've got some dead steep slopes. Sometimes climbing them is a murder. But the views are usually worth it. And if you want something higher, Mt. Śnieżka, the highest peak in the Sudetes, is only 50 minutes drive away...

You're a lucky man living in such a beautiful landscape!!!
And of course we're lucky that you're taking pictures of it,
and show them here in your gallery!!
Very impressive.

Do you know a place called Sawade (west Poland), it's in the
part of Poland that had been German in the past.
My great grandfather was born and raised there. He left the
country, married a German woman, and arrived in the Netherlands.
My grandmother (mothers side) was one of their kids.
So there is a littlebit of Polish blood in my veins.

That is true, I am lucky to be living in such proximity of those beautiful landscapes
As to Sawade, I think there must be a mistake in spelling. Most possibly you mean Zawada, but I know of three villages bearing that name, all of them in the western part of Poland, the part which used to be Germany before the war. And there are more Zawadas in other parts of Poland (just checked). Actually, it's quite a popular name for small villages and settlements in Poland.

Thanks for all the nice comments and the faves

Thanks for looking for me. I appreciate it.
So many Zawadas!! Unbelievable. Can you translate
Zawada for me? Is that possible? I just wonder what it could mean.

The direct translation of the word "zawada" will be "an obstacle". In contemporary Polish, however, it is used more in the sense of metaphorical obstacles, rather than physical, tangible ones.

Well, thanks for the explanation.
I think I'll go and look for some papers I got from my grandmother before she died. There were names and places in it. And I bought an old geographical card of Poland.
This was years ago, so it might take some time.
Would you like to help me, by that time, to find things?
Would be great!

No problem at all. Will be glad to help. Might be easier if you tried to find me at Facebook. The communication would be more private, and rather easier, I'd say. I think I'll send you a private message about it
