Born and raised healthily in a simple life, Rocky was a very happy and active kid. He used to live in an urban neighborhood in Tokyo, where his parents established a little ramen restaurant. Like almost every boy, he were all excited with hero stuff. He used to collect anything related to it, from all types of media to garage kits to official cosplay costumes. Anime, manga, French-Belgian or American media, the source were no problem for him, all what mattered were the true adventure and justice spirit. When Rocky turned 20, the monetary conditions of the family got quite worse, with a dark-looking future. Rocky decided to help the family moving to America and make some budget to help his parents. His first stop was Manhattan, where he ran a Japanese food restaurant. About a month later his business was victimized by a ferocious street gang, and he had no conditions to get the restaurant back on its feet. He moved to Detroit, set his restaurant from ground zero, but things didn't change: again he was prejudiced by vandals and robbers. Again he hit the road, looking for a place to set his business. Unfortunately, whatever was his destination - Chicago, Seattle, Los Angeles, Dallas, Orlando, Jersey City, Hillport - he couldn't find a place to run his restaurant in peace. Feeling quite jinxed, Rocky was considering moving back to Tokyo, once he didn't have any more conditions to keep trying his personal project in America. During a starry night in Hillport, while packing his bags he took a deep look at his huge comics collection, sighing and wishing there were a hero to help him. Suddenly, his sad, lost look found a report in one of the tons of old newspaper sheets that he had in his shabby apartment. It was a report about a succesful triumph of the S.T.A.R. - the Special Task Action Rangers. There, a photo of the team had a phrase right below it, from the team leader, Hazard: "A true hero doesn't need strength, skills or fancy gear. Just courage to stand for justice". At that moment, such words combined with all those hero images came out so inspiring into Rocky's heart that he decided to try to stand against the criminals who prejudiced him. He then came up with a surprising scheme involving lots of disguises, trying to fool his foes, and in no time he made such foes fall for his trap and have the local police to put them behind bars and have all of his business stuff back. From that day onwards, Rocky was convinced that he could become a hero. Based on his disguising skills, he themed his hero self in a folkloric Japanese belief that raccoons could transform using a leaf. Nowadays, by the day he's Rokusho "Rocky" Kitano, a simple owner of a little Japanese restaurant. By the night, he becomes 'Dark Leaf', a skillful hero known for his magical transformation in a blink of an eye.

If not showing a sympathetic grin, Rocky is usually seen expressing a friendly look, as if to say that things are always well. With time he got over his bad experiences and learned to be a positive person, also thanks to the help of the friends he made at Hillport. He's an energic guy, always up to anything. Rocky never had much work trying to hide his hero alter-ego, once people can never tell he's 'Dark Leaf'. Nobody suspects it - which gives him quite a relief.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Introducing my raccoon OC! Such double personality was inspired in a character from Medabots anime series. And the "Dark Leaf" concept... that was very recent: a few days ago I was watching an interview with Shigeru Miyamoto and he was talking about Super Mario Bros. 3, and he told about that folkloric Japanese belief. I thought it'd be a neat idea to attribute that to Rocky's hero alter-ego. The only hard part was coming up with a majestic hero name to it. So, after a good brainstorm session, I gave up and left it "Dark Leaf" anyway.

Heh! Valeu pra caramba, maninho! De fato depois que eu ouvi e pesquisei a respeito dessa crença folclórica dos guaxinins eu decidi que eu tinha que incrementá-la a este personagem!

Just when I thought he was a boxer because of that comic. XD Hehe this is a nice surprise though. A costumed crime fighting tanuki, definitely the first of its kind. ^^ All for honor and justice, he's a very admirable young man. And he has a very creative costume too. X3 Haha oh yeah, Mario Bros had the raccoon transformation! XD Interesting inspiration, good work too!

And because his nickname is "Rocky"!

Nah, kidding! Glad you approved it, fella! Thanks! In fact I wanted something more "imperial" to Dark Leaf's costume (some perfect mix of imperial Japan clothes with those 70's anime heroes ), but in the end I rather preferred something more "light" for it.

Ah, yes, that raccoon suit could transform into a typical Japanese statue used as garden adornment. You could stomp harder enemies with that.

Thanks much, pal!
