It does resemble a dog, but that's okay...reminds me of aboriginal art.
I love how shiny this is, and very nice colour choices.
Maybe try doing a simple line-art of this...it would make a great tattoo

This looks like it would be an interesting tattoo, at least. I think if you made the background a darker color, like black, or dark blue, the lighter image would stand out more- which would be a good thing. I agree that this looks like some sort of Dragon/Dog hybrid. Maybe, if you added a few fangs, and/or removed the ears in favor of horns, it would look more Draconic.
