Description          Walking down an alley you paused to see a man in a black leather jacket forcing another against a wall.
"Hey," you called out holding your purse defensively, instantly regretting your decision to interfere. The attacker paused and glanced to you and your heart froze. His eyes blazed and flashed like red hot coals as his thick black hair trailed over his forehead. Stepping back you bit your lip and looked away taking a breath, trying to steady your nerves.
You heard something hit the floor and glanced back to the men. The poor man had slumped to the ground, seemingly unconscious, as his attacker was slowly walking towards you. His back straight, his eyes focused on yours, and you stepped back as fear flooded over you.
The air filled with the thick heavy smell of smoke and ash and you could feel your lungs grasping desperately for clean air. Then as suddenly as it happened it was over. Giving a cough you glanced away but found yourself being drawn back to him. He was attractive in a rugged sort of way. A light unshaven stubble complimented his thick muscular neck and square jaw. His lips were thin and pale. His ivory skin stood out as if it hadn't seen sun for many years.
Suddenly you felt his cold hand trail over your cheek and you gasped pulling away and pressing your hand to your cheek. His skin was so cold it burned to touch. His malicious grin made you tremble and you felt the wall behind you, cool and damp.
"Did you want something?" he hissed, his voice smooth and entrancing. His coal eyes swirl in hypnotic circles holding your there like a snake holding his pray.
Shaking your head softly as he caressed your cheek again, and you winced at the blistering cold touch.
"Are you sure?" he purred his coal eyes glittering with frightening torment. Then he pulled away with a laugh. It was a deep throaty laugh that might have been appealing on another man. Stepping back he crossed his arms over his chest. "You’re a brave little human," he said leaning against the opposite wall, "i look forward to seeing you when you die," he grinned and you stared at him in horror.
"Are you going to..." you paused not wanting to finish the sentence. Your simple trip for groceries had escalated into a life or death experience.
"Oh, no, not yet. You're string of life has yet to be cut," he replied with a nonchalant wave of his hand. "But when it has I'll be there," he said with a smile and you shivered. Closing your eyes you heard him walk away. Opening then you shuddered, looking around to see the man that he had attacked. He rubbed his head and you moved towards him.
“Are you alright?” you whispered, your voice cracking with fear. Kneeling beside the man you reached slowly out to him, “sir?” his eyes, focused on you, looking glazed and dizzy.
“Hello pretty girl,” he mumbled and then looked around.
“That… person,” you shivered again, “he’s gone,”
“Then it’s my lucky day,” the man said as he moved to get up. Reaching out to help him, he stood. You watched him, slightly concerned as he looked around again. What did that cold pale man want with this person? The man looked back to you and then smiled, “thank you for saving me,”
You smiled awkwardly, “it was nothing really,” you said shifting your feet.
“I’m also sorry for this,” he said and then grabbed you. A shocked scream escaped you and you pulled away, hearing your clothes rip as you did. The man’s face seemed deranged now and you held the scraps of your shirt up as you backed away. To your luck the man stumbled as he tried to pursue you and you fled, running blindly, racing back out of the alley. You heard a horn before you could stop. You didn’t feel the impact as you went from running to flying, to laying in the asphalt. Your body was heavy, and someone was screaming. Your hands felt sticky as your eyes struggled to focus.
“I told you I would be there to see you die,” came the voice and your eyes opened to make out a kneeling figure. “Come with me brave little mortal,” he said, his tone not malicious or cold. You reached for him and his hand took yours. It was warmer now and the world faded peacefully out with you knowing that you would see him again, in a different life.
