Description Today's work, another commission. The reference photo for this one was a big close-up, and it was really fun to paint. I don't think I've ever seen a calico look quite so furious.

This is watercolour, 5" by 7".

Thank you very much; quite a challenge, that one. I'm so used to full-body or bust-type portraits that cramming a face into that space was a very new thing for me.

Well, with something that close up, it was pretty important to go heavy on the detail.

The reference photo was great - a big 8" by 10" with lots of detail; it was so much fun to paint!

I just got one to do for someone here, its a photocopy of a Wedding photo taken probably in the late 40's early 50's so you can imagine the problems i'm going to have with that

That's good! I was terribly embarrassed once when I did a commission that was meant as a gift for someone and the someone wandered onto my page and saw it! It was just awful - I got a real tongue-lashing for it!

Thanks! This one was really fun to do - I almost never get the chance to paint an angry cat. Most people say, "Can you make her look a little less angry?"
