The Na'vi looked like generic cat-people on growth hormones that fell into a bucket of blue paint, while the rest of Pandora's animals had far more interesting body plans. did some concepts for Pandora sophonts following the general body plan earlier (they're also far better executed), so...I tried to do some myself.
The top one is the oldest concept, which would resemble the original Na'vi the most (living in trees) and communicates through complicated whistles produced by the multiple spiracles on the neck. The other two are ground-dwellers that use more simple sounds combined with sign language. There was a fourth concept of an elephant-like creature with a mask-like face covered with bioluminescent organs using it's bio-USB ports as manipulative organs which got messed up in the drawing process.
