Description
Bushrod is an artificial life form designed for time travel, in the 24th century they call them "Time Terriers". The innovators of time travel discovered that human beings are emotionally incapable of time travel especially the farther back in time a person is sent. The process of adapting to dramatic changes in environment, culture and technological advancement that occur once someone travels backwards in time are simply too challenging for the typical human to endure on any long term basis. Unfortunately damage was done by travellers in certain instances as the science was being innovated and in an effort to repair these historical mistakes the bureau responsible for overseeing time travel created the time terrier as proxies for humans to assist in mending these breaches.
Bushrod and those like him are engineered to behave similar to canines or household dogs and understand not only understand basic commands but also complex conversations and instructions. Their limbs are designed to stretch, shorten and reshape themselves based on the needs of their mission and can also assume the shape and likeness of human beings as needed, their default setting however is modeled after canine's due to the general affinity humans have for the animal. This creature on all fours measures 4 feet tall and utilizes brute force as means of attack, either through ramming, pounding with its fists, donkey kicking with its hind legs and even body slamming.
Because Bushrod is technically alive, he needs to sleep but doesn't eat as having a diet would severely impede its ability to function during the course of a mission. Bushrod also comes with an onboard virtual companion who is capable of communicating both to him and those he interacts with in order to minimize any difficulties that may arise in the various circumstances he may find himself involved in. This companion exists only as software and is presented through speech.
