This was what caused the narator to cut Pickman socially. Not that he was the first to disown the man. The crumpled photo in the upper right, affixed to the convas as a ref, was the last straw. The subhuman fiends that pillaged and plundered graveyards the world over, were not the product of Pickman's imagination.

Not long afterwards, Pickman disappeared, prob. becoming a ghoul himself ! He reappears in the Dream Quest novel, as one of Randolph Carter's allies in his quest for Kadath.

So far, the only story featuring Richard Upton Pickman read by me was "Pickman's Model". I know only what Thurber told me. But I'm soon getting more works by Lovecraft, so I'll soon read more about this painter. I think that since "the weird people leave their spawn in cradles in exchange for the human babes they steal" and Pickman pictured his younger self as one of the "young [ghoul] as left
with mankind in the form of changelings", Pickman may have been one of those "ghoul kids" and have become a ghoul himself after growing older. "The dog-things were developed from mortals", so I think of it as a likely possibility. Specially because Thurber insinuated didn't know what's become of Pickman, and he didn't like to guess" and because police didn't know yet "of the old North End place he hired under the name of Peters". He probably thinks of it but doesn't dare to assume this possibility.

Great, my favourity-story from Lovecraft!
Looks like illuminating the scenery with a pocket lamp...
And also these cringing look of the ghoul...
I like it!

I think you managed this successfully .

I'd also ever the wish to draw this photography, but my arguable ability in drawing would just disappoint me.
