Description Not being a PC gamer can suck sometimes. Mainly when you're the only one left with an Xbox 360 copy of Left 4 Dead 2, while all your friends are playing it on Steam. It's the main reason why it took me so long to play Slender: The Arrival, in that my computers are so ancient they struggle playing even roms. So by the time I got around to it via a console release, people had already moved onto this new sensation "Five Nights at Freddy's"

Depending on who you ask, you'll get one of 3 opinions about the game.

"It's not scary and it's an over hyped piece of shit!" "SCARIEST GAME IN YEARS!" or "I WANT TO FUCK THOSE ROBOTS SO HARD!!!!!"

...... Okaaaaaay?

Seeing how I'm a complete coward when it comes to Horror games (and horror in general) I wasn't sure if I'd play it or not. I think my initial introduction was my buddy Axelstripe telling me about it. Then I saw Markiplier's LP and it got me curious. I read up on the lore and instantly feel in love with the backstory and the overall concept. The idea of a family friendly restaurant being home to murderous psychotic robots has this odd charm to it. Also note I'm a limey and I have no idea what Chuck E. Cheese's is. Yet I'm reminded more of that Simpsons episode where Itchy & Scratchy robots try to kill everybody.

While I have heard the game was called "the Night Trap of 2014" it bummed me out I couldn't play it cus I can't run steam and I'm broke. However I did hear via the Super Gaming Bros LP of FNAF it doesn't use too much power to run the game, that and the demo is free. I decided to give it a try. Downloaded the demo to see if all the fuss was worth it.

This is not a review. Mainly due to me only covering Night 1 and 2 (the demo's length) this is a summary of that. However, after writing this summary up, my other friend AngelHalo gifted me the game and is giving me a tutorial how to run Steam. So I will return to this game sometime in the future.

First thing I want to mention, any lag and loading problems are not the games fault. Again, I'm working with tech older than the Queen so that's why.

The big question first.
Is this game scary to me?

.....

No.

I felt tense and a bit uneasy, but I can't say I was scared in anyway. That again is probably due to me only playing the demo. I hear (and have seen) the terror stacks up the longer it goes on. I am convinced the "reactions" from LPers are fake. When Bonnie (the one I spent the most time with) popped up by the door, I actually laughed.... Before he began to piss me off!

I can easily say the game has a better atmosphere and design than Slender: The Arrival. What I mean is the jump scares are NOT as frequent as people claim they are. They're actually very random and unpredictable. Slender's problem is he didn't know when to knock that shit off, and by his 15th JS I literally stopped reacting to it. Bonnie on the other hand found ways to test my patience and actually drew a reaction from me several times. Yes, I literally found a giant purple rabbit with a r*pe face more spooky than a glorified bogeyman.

Now unlike Slender, I was playing this on a PC. So I decided to try the method LPers do with scary games.

I turned the lights off.
I plugged in a headset.
I turned the volume up and got in close to my screen.

SO WHAT HAPPENED ON NIGHTS 1 & 2?
This was my first time playing a game like this, and I found the set up very comfortable. The fact you cannot move makes it more challenging, cus if you could walk around then what's stopping from say running out the other door when Freddy appears? The dread and tension is what makes this game so compelling from "grab a set number of things rinse & repeat" or "shoot mutant zombie with gun in a quick time event!"

TAKE NOTE AAA TITLES!!!!!

It's the helplessness I felt watching that power meter going down cus Bonnie wouldn't leave near 5AM. Chica, Foxy and Freddy were piss easy to deal with but that bastard Rabbit can fuck right off!! No joke, he literally camped outside the door for 3 fucking minutes! I timed it. 3 minutes.

Then something weird happened on Night 1. The game "broke" on me. In that I was unable to put the camera down at all. It was an instant win on my end. Bonnie or Chica couldn't jump scare me and the power strangely didn't go down! I breezed past Night 1 thanks to a glitch. Thankfully the glitch was gone for Night 2. This is where Bonnie entered cunt-mode! I managed to stop Foxy's charge, only cus Bonnie.... Well you know.

I managed to get through both nights without dying. Yet I have a feeling I won't be so lucky in the full game. Provided my ageing hardware can run it smoothly.

So, this final part goes out to Scott Cawthon.

Dude, I'm begging you. Xbox 360 release? Please?

Hell, I'll even take a 3DS release. Actually, that would be perfect!!! Camera footage on top and the office is controlled with the touch screen! No, better yet!!! A Wii U release.

The tablet controller is made for this game.

Think about it Scott, think about it!

Five Nights at Freddy's is like Night Trap in that the gameplay mainly consists of looking at video cameras. Β That is where the similarities end. Where Five Nights at Freddy's is actually psychologically horrifying, Night Trap is the equivalent of a cheesy B-movie. Β Night Trap is no scarier than a typical episode of Arthur.

This was pretty good, and yeah things start really picking up on Night 3, since that's when Freddy starts to become active since as Phone Guy notes Freddy becomes more active as the week progresses and he can really screw you over especially on Night 5. Well at any rate good comic and I'm ready for more Freddy... Yeah looks like I'm going to be making a very poor career choice again.

Yeah, the game does start to get more creepy as it goes on, mainly due to hallucinations. Also, Freddy only becomes aggressive on Night 5. Otherwise, he only appears when you're out of power.

And not being able to put the tablet down won't save you. You can't close the doors from there, so the robots can get in, and if you stay looking at the tablet for too long, Bonnie and CHica can drag the tablet down and attack you anyway. You probably just got lucky.

Also, the game on Wii U would be perfect.

Well it seems you like it. I feel I need to try this game. It's a good thing I can run it.

Poor Ann. Wish I could give her somewhat of a hug to somewhat lift those nightmares off her head (then again, she'd think it'd be weird to be hugged by a fish).Β

By that you mean Ann would rather be at an Asylum than at Freddie's?Β
