Description With these 8 games, they're not reviews. I'll just touch briefly why I love them and let the comic offer up a laugh or two.

So the first of my 8 fav games is Batman: Arkham Asylum.... Not the infearior sequel.

Arkham City Fans: Booooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!

No, no. Hear me out.

To save time.

AA = Arkham Asylum.
AC = Arkham City
And the rest should be obvious.

AA nailed the atmosphere with this kind of game. You're confined to a tiny island filled with armed goons, super criminals and the like. The best part about is if you swapped out Batman for say one of the guards, the doctors or playing as a small child the game doubles as a survival horror title. The absolute feeling of helplessness of that enviroment appeals to me. AC's problem to me was it eliminated that by having Bats in a much bigger playground, plenty of company and a weaker plot. AO was a basic rehash and AK looks more of the same.

With AA they didn't know if it would be a hit so they played it safe. Kept everything at a moderate level and offered up the perfect length and level of content. AC through in TOO MUCH that I didn't care when AO came into the picture.

AA kept the story focused, it was stopping Joker and the occasional obsticle along the way. AC lost focus with far too many side missions with Hugo Strange becoming an after thought and I don't even remember AO's plot.

AA - The worst night in your life.
AC - A Daily Mail Readers WetDream.
AO - Obligitory prequel.

Asylum is the game I went out of my way to speed run, clear in a day, beat all the Riddler challenges and all the difficulty options. The task of speed running I go back to at least once a year, where as with the others it's not as fun in all honesty.

EDIT: With the release of Batman: Return to Arkham, a remastering of both Arkham Asylum and Arkham City. While I'm still unsure if I'll review this twinpack. For now I'll say this.

Take everything I said about Arkham Asylum and add "it looks slightly better" and that's Return to Arkham Asylum.

Snake Plissken? Oh man, Joker will have the time of his life.
Wish John Carpenter made another one-ish...

Arkham City is fun but screw that annoying achievement/trophy where you have to talk to calendar Β man on certain days of the month because some of us don't celebrate events like 4th of july or thanksgiving in the uk

also screw the moron who thought of getting the upgrade by doing missable challenges is a good idea in arkham origins and they have to be done in order to clear them which is stupid

As much as I loved Arkham City, I agree that Arkham Asylum is a better game, it felt like a chore to 100% AC.

Yeah, I loved Arkham Asylum, and while I enjoyed Arkham City, I couldn't be bothered beating it at the time, it was too much of the same thing. Origins didn't interest me at all, even if it had Deathstroke in it, and I'm one of the few who doesn't care about Arkham Knight at all.
