Allosaur jaws could open as far as 92 degrees for maximum gape.

This is actually based on a more recent study on theropod gapes (Allosaurus got 80 degrees, T. rex got 65, and Erlikosaurus a mere 20)

Actually I re-read it, and discovered it was 92 degrees for Allosaurus and 80 degrees for T. rex.

It's scary how wide these animals could open their mouths.

Imagine the gape of a big carcharodontosaur.

No one's really done any studies on the potential of their jaw gape from what I know.

They opened their jaws so wide because they found out they'll be in a famous British documentary series and get their own special on the same network.

Maybe the big opened jaw was probably used to biting on the prey, like a hatchet.

While this gape probably was for hunting, I seriously doubt it would just slam the upper jaw only into the prey; more likely, it would swing its head so that both sets of teeth make contact, which makes it easier to take out chunks.

At this gape, his breath will probably kill you before his teeth gets anywhere near you.

tfw you swallow a dryosaurus whole, but it gets stuck halfway cause your throat can't open as far as your jawsΒ

The insane gape is probably a hunting adaptation. The bigger the gape, the more teeth you can swing into your prey, and the bigger the bite.

(I donβt mean the ax jaw hypothesis, I just mean when the animal is shooting its jaws forwards with its neck)
