Description I was taking a sculpting break this afternoon and decided to break out the acrylics...
This measures 10 inches x 15 inches..
The crayfish is actually a real dried up crayfish...
I've got about 5 or 6 of them that a good friend had who raised crayfish...There were a bunch that had escaped and they dried in to different positions...I had to have some...
Anyways, this started out as one thing and then turned in to this...
I have no idea what it means...
I'm open to interpretations...
Either way, I got it out of my system for the time being.
Hope you like it!

A rather dark but definitely an interesting concept, I had no idea you tinkered with traditional painting.

excellent I think it's a scene from Revelations, "and behold, the crawfish of death appeared with death in it's little orange claws" something like that

You see, this crayfish of the dead was crawling around in a pirate wreck and found the skull of Jacque D'Or the evil pirate prince whose fearless antics were well known among the crustaceans so given his super powered undead body this crayfish found this incredible prize and lassoed it with the rare red seaweed that is prevalent in that area..from there he dragged it back to show it off to all the others who were always too afraid to go near the wreck.

Man this is amazing, you rock in 3D and 2D.I had no idea you painted as well. Awesome.
I think the meaning is perfect and simple. Both are the remains, what is left of us when we these vessels. The exoskeleton and the inner skeleton. The blood being dripped on it was our fuel, but when we are gone, the fuel doesn't matter. Our souls are the energy that runs these vessels. So no matter how much gas (blood) you have in the car (body) it wont start without your battery (soul).
That's what i think it means.
I love you work Randy. The volume in your heart and mind is turned up. Probably due to that good battery of yours

Man, that is such a compliment coming from someone of your talent level Gabriel...
I love that interpretation...
I really do need to keep going back to painting etc. and keep in touch with my 2D work.
I had a blast with this piece too...
I was trying to come up with a unique color for the outside of our house and as I'm doing that I looked down and saw a primed piece of canvas board on the floor..
Once I laid down a few random strokes, it just took off...I had this really funky pic of myself that I manipped years ago...I made myself look like the little creepy kid on The Grudge...That was stuck to the board for a bit till I hated it and then it kept evolving until it came to this...
It was a fun process and I got really lost in it.
Thanks as always Gabriel for your great support..
Take care man!

Ha Ha , get outta here man, you know I'm a nobody.
But I do the same thing, I have to switch up my medium from time to time or it will become stale.
I can't swing as hard as you on the 3D front but I love to do it. You learn and remember while your doing it. I just had no idea you were so good at it.
You take care as well my friend.

Its all just very horrible and macabre. I suppose it might have some relationship to eating and the act of consumption taking over the mind.

Speaking of which I haven't had breakfast yet..excuse me.

Its all drivel you know.

RockBarnes [2010-04-04 10:54:43 +0000 UTC]

Well. I can see that the skull seems to be amused.

Could it be that it's Dracula's skull and the crayfish squeezes blood from whereever(<- my spellchecker tells me that this is not a word. JUST WHY NOT??) in an attempt to revive him?

This may be the prove that crayfish are evil and have some contract with vampires to take over world dominance

A strangly weird piece - I like it

Hallicu... Whatever. Have you had mushrooms lately? Thinking about it... Cereals... It may not be impossible: Claviceps purpurea is the fungus from which LSD was developed.

(That's true, but I'm not all serious And even if I could not spell "hallucinogenic", I can copy it with the mouse ) (Gosh, I must be in strange mood myself. Oh. Yesterday I had a footlong sandwich from Subway's - The bread was rye )
