Description
I've got a garden size version of Bob the Frog, in addition to the table top version which was the very first frog I sculpted.I try not to make each version a carbon copy cuz that would be boring...
These are both bronze.
The larger one measures about 2 feet wide and 9 inches tall.
The small one measures about 8 inches wide...

I love toads too...I'm fortunate to be able to incorporate a toad in to my next big commission so I'm really excited...

The toad will be a bit bigger than what is considered "life size" though...
All the rest of the figures will be life size bronzes...

This is really great Randy. I like how the features are exaggerated just enough to reinforce the character. It was fun to look closely and see how "correct" the anatomy seemed, only to kind of see the fun distortions that give him so much character. Great stuff and inspiring, as usual!

I can just see these in my garden at the mo....
Might have to knock down next doors fence and "steal" abit of their garden !
Its hard to imagine WHERE to start to sculpt something on that scale.
You would make a killing you know... if you made a dvd.

it's surprisingly life-like, even with the exaggerated facial features...
I know what you mean about the "carbon copy" issue. I think about that everytime I decide to sculpt a fetus. I even have a close friend who thinks Im a one trick pony...haha
Great job on the sense of gravity on his skin. It really adds to the realism...

I've got a few pieces that look super close to the smaller or larger version but there are enough subtle differences that make it not feel so repetative.
I don't think any of your work has that carbon copy feel to it....
I think your concepts all carry a unique feel to them...
I'm telling you, I still want to patina that Centaur piece of yours someday...

haha thanks for your continuing offer to patina my centaur,
but I'd rather not have it look good (as Im sure your patina would make it look).
I like how flawed it looks now..
I had always intended to make the centaur into a life-size animatronic sculpture for my thesis, but I copped out when I took bronze sculpture for the first time and needed something to do. I still think one day I'll make that fantasy into reality, (I've always secretly wanted to become a film director, and Im always thinking about how to incorporate the centaur into a film), but you never know......I might even do a life size bronze, and if I do Im definitely going to hire you to do the patina.
