I know that you can buy wax flakes, and I'm sure you can get candle wicks.

I'm thinking if someone were to sculpt a dragon in that pose, then coat it with rubber or something else that would peel off, you'd have a sort of mold.
It would just be a matter of doing it for both sides of the sculpture and making sure there's a bottom so the wax would stay in the mold...

I've never made a candle, but I'll attempt it sometime.
