And heck no, I probably could not sit for 10 hours at once working on this without going nuts. I did this in about four or five days after I got the idea I wanted down. My sitting sessions are usually about 5 or 6 hours each. (So I guess in reality this took me closer to 20 hours; hence the 10+) But I understand that most people can't sit that long. Typically I try to finish a segment before I finish for the day. So it divides up like layout, undersketch, line art, hair, character 1 colors, character 2 colors, misc. lineart corrections, reflective light, background, touchups. I know that I tend to be inconsistent with my brush strokes and how I go about a piece so I always try to finish at least one segment completely before I stop for the day. Although if I'm really frustrated I stop and go do something else so I don't over focus on one part. I guess I'm saying please don't think I am patient as you think. XD I get angry and have to take breaks all the time.

You should definitely give this a try! I would love to see what other people come up with.

( >///u///< ) Thank you so so much! I had a really hard time with Hector and I didn't give him all the attention to detail that he deserves. It's really hard to find any actual person with pale skin to get an idea of tones from so I had to really depend on looking at my own white-ass self. I painted his skin 3 times I think? Before I found a pallet that I liked. It's not the color of his skin in his character sheets but it is more accurate to a real person. So that's worth more, don't you think?

Thank you!!!!!!!! I think next time I try this, I'm going to import it into photoshop and use a custom brush of mine to add some realistic skin texture. I think it would really help solidify the look. And thank you about the mouth! Manda was in love with it as well. Honestly, the trick to it is really easy. I noticed it growing up and looking at how people draw teeth pretty early on. Really what you need to do is NOT make the teeth detailed and realistic. If you add too much detail to teeth they look like they have weird gaps or are freaky and stick out grossly. It's amazing how the brain will automatically fill the area around the teeth with the correct information. XD

There's a brush for that? Hell, there's a brush for practically everything on photoshop nowadays. I really shouldn't be surprised.

Isn't the brain amazing? I love how it can do that. Some of my non-artist friends always find it amazing how much you can convey with just a few well-placed lines. They're always super amazed when I draw, say, clothing and tack on a few lines to give the appearance of wrinkles and therefore adding more dimension to something flat. The brain is a marvelous piece of... hardware? lol. Does that apply when it's actually soft? XD

(lol! That totally made me think old-school corsets and lace and the South.)

(Good! I totally just watched Disney's Hercules the other day and it was still really fresh in my mind. :3)

Yesss I have a nice brush for skin. It's basicly a spaced out speckle brush but it's more accurate than just adding noise to the skin like some people do. After all, you can't see every skin pore all the time so it's weird to put it all over when putting it in a few strategic places look better.

And I totally know what you're talking about. You see it a lot in optical illusions too. Or like, if you draw a circle and don't complete it, your brain will naturally fill in the missing information and still read the curve as a circle even though it isn't one technically.

And yes, I would say the brain is hardware. At least, Manda and I call it that all the time. Makes sense when you think about it. Your brain remembers all the data is sees in a day, not forgetting anything. Then you go to sleep and sort through data you don't need, delete those files, defragment your hard drive, and run an antivirus to repair any damaged areas for the next day. Totally a computer. Or I guess if I wanted to be more accurate, computers are totally brains? XD

I won't lie, I've tried strictly realistic painting many times. I typically get overwhelmed and frustrated and give up before I finish. It was really nice to do this work where I wasn't trying to mimic the painting style of how most people paint realistically and instead just had fun with mixing it up all crazy-like. Thank you for the wonderful comment. I was worried about certain areas being too much one way or another, but thank you for letting me know you think it's still balanced regardless. ouo
