Yeah, Sonic needs to stop trying so hard to be dark and/or angsty. If I want dark, I've got Shadow for that. Sonic's better off just being himself, not that I can blame him for trying to be like Shadow; it shows he's been paying attention, but he can't pull it off. It always seems like he's trying too hard. Sonic needs to stick to friendship and rainbows 8DYes, Darkspine Sonic is naked
He stole Kiei 's eyes, too
And please don't tell me I colored Darkspine's hand wrong. I do things my way 83

Every hero has a dark side. I might not know much about darkspine, but every hero needs at least one "Animal I have Become" or "I feel like a monster" moment. After all, there is no more fearsome evil than one's own darkness.
The developers don't need to keep sonic to rainbows. They need to stop limiting themselves with the ESRB. Then, at least they can make the darker side work the way they want to. Otherwise, E rating restrictions make what has great potential become a joke.

This picture is just a joke. I agree with you, actually. I enjoy seeing Sonic fighting his darker side or being pushed to the limit so that we catch a glimpse of it. It just needs to be done right ^^

i honestly do not have much issue with the whole dark spine thing, it was a little different granted i mean it was invoked by negative emotions, but these were brought on fairly suddenly and so it does not really make him more dark sense everyone has various things that just invoke emotional types good bad neutral happy sad mellow ect i also like how it didnt take all 7 of the object at hand to cause it but now with the story book series i am noticing the trend of 3s, it took 3 rings to make dark spine, and it was by absorbing the 3 sacred swords into caliburn that Excalibur came into full form

yeah but i wonder just how strong is dark spine and Excalibur sonic in relation to super sonic, also did you notice that the story book series (as of right now at lest) seems to favor the number 3 not the number 7?

I'm not sure how powerful Darkspine or Excalibur Sonic are compared to Super Sonic. I haven't actually played SatSR, so I don't know much about that one, but Excalibur Sonic loses rings when he's hit, meaning he's not invulnerable like Super Sonic is. However, Caliburn becomes invulnerable as Excalibur, so maybe that makes up for it.
I was under the impression that Sonic needed seven rings in SatSR, but like I said, I haven't played it, so I don't know exactly what it took to transform him.

well in unleash sonic loses rings when hes hit as super sonic as well, the theory is that super sonic can take any level of beating but it drains his rings, now it seems that there is a health gauge and the more rings you have the more beating you can take and in black knight the rings max out at 100 so naturally the health gauge is already limited in any fight, take away the game play faults and i would sumize that Excalibur sonic is probably a equal if not m ore fearsome then super sonic

I haven't played Sonic Unleashed, either. In fact, SatBK is the only Sonic game I've played since Shadow's game came out, unless you count a few handheld games and Sonic Riders, but I didn't beat any of those or even get very far XP It's kinda hard to make a comparison when they keep changing the rules of how the battles work

well i think due to just how long the perfect dark gaia fight tends to get atlest in the ps3/xbox360 version they decided instead that you have a life bar and on you way to dark gaias sheild you can boost through large clusters of rings and gather them as a life supply, then you have to avoid getting hit while nailing these weird snake things with eyes in their mouth areas untill you defeat all of them to lower dark gaias shield

You have to admit though, watching Darkspine pummel the World Rings out of Erazor (literally), was a lot more entertaining that Super Sonic's head butts/projectile tossing.

Well there's the Advances (2 and 3) and the Rushes, where he either reflects what's being thrown at him, or chucks Eggman at the boss.

sonic's not TRYING to be dark--the only reason he turned into darkspine in the first place was because of a sub reaction to erazor using the world rings and becoming alf laya-wa laya

I didn't really mean that Sonic himself is trying to be dark. It's more like Sega keeps doing things to him to try and make him darker/angstier. It's more a joke on things from recent games. I'm not saying it's Sonic's choice.

Seriously, Darkspine is such a useless form, SEGA at least should've made another character to go Darkspine, because Sonic has to mush superforms.
