Description It was requested that I submit the original versions of the artwork used to create my previous deviation: "Merenzane Gold."

I figured this worked well enough on its own to merit an inclusion as a standalone piece. No catchy title, though

I really like how the eyes are on this! In fact lots of the features (eyes, ears, chin, head-tails) really fit well together, in the angles/proportions/shape/symmetry/etc.

Whole drawing is a great example of "really simple" art coming out as "really beautiful".

Very nice! Aayla looks very sweet in your style!

Maybe someday you could take a stab at the Twi'lek character in the novel I'm writing? Just a thought . . . would probably make for a good collab. ^_^

Thanks for sharing this, btw!

Very sassy looking, I like that. Not sure you got the Lekku quite right, though. I believe they originate further back on the head and distort the overall shape of the head some. Better than I could ever do, but thought I'd mention it nonetheless. (a little constructive criticism never hurt) By the way, which comic series did she appear in? I never pick them up by the individual issue - I don't have the patience for it - but enjoy collecting the larger, graphic novel, editions.

Thanks very much The design is based on the Cartoon Network "Clone Wars" series, and that's how lekku look in that series' design aesthetic. But you're correct, they actually look much different - more like an enlarged and slightly flattened cranium with the lekku projecting out from that shape. If you ever have a chance to look at Aayla's appearance in the "Clone Wars Adventures" comic digest, they re-designed her and the lekku look more accurate there.

The "actual" Aayla was a featured character in the "Star Wars: Republic" series from Dark Horse.

Oh, and, uh... what are those things coming out of her head? I mean, the long things, not the pointy things.

Just takes study and practice. I'm a firm believer that anyone can learn to draw

based on "Clone Wars" cartoon design?

Raphael2054 In reply to ava-angel [2006-08-16 23:56:26 +0000 UTC]

Yes, my own personal modification of the "Clone Wars" Aayla character design. I never quite liked the way she looked in the episodes, so I decided to tweak her a bit to make her more in keeping with the comic book.

your design is beautiful! She could have looked that way in "Clon Wars" cartoon!!
I liked some way, that characters were designed there, for ex Shaak Tii
