Something about the way the lighting meets the texture of the snout is truly organic and beautiful. This is one of the few T-rex that I've seen that feel avian without being overtly so, giving it a eerie predatory presense without ripping off avian raptors. I feel a connection to this Rex, I want to reach out and feel it's snout. Terrific work. Β

The biggest eagles have these feathers the size of a human arm. Forming a scale-like pattern (because this is what feathers are - scales, basically).
Take a look at this

It's not even clear these are feathers. If I was from another planet, I would say they're scales for sure.
And yet artists choose to go with "furry" small strokes. Feathers are not fur. You generally don't confuse a bird with a dog.Β
Small areas on the head sometimes look like hair, but then again, birds have good hair-stylists:

Except this isn't based off feathers of a modern raptor. The fluff on my rex here are based off ratite feathers, take a closer look at the heads and necks of emus and ostriches. Stage 1 feathers that very much resemble hair or fur.Β wonderopolis.org/_img?img=/wp-β¦ Β upload.wikimedia.org/wikipediaβ¦
Those eagle feathers could be of good use if I decided to illustrate Dromaeosaurids. Yet this is a Tyrannosaurid so you're showing me the wrong reference. I appreciate it though.

I see you have your the science behind it, that I respect. )
Personally I think ostriches and are seriously de-evolved and since they're not predators, not much is required from them. They are Big Lebowski slackers, walking around in rags, they just do not care. CarnivoresΒ - they have to be smart, and keep themselves in a good physical and evolutionary shape. But again, I see know what you're doing, great work.

Tyrannosaurs had primitive ratite-like feathers, primitive, stage 2 feathers. ratites don't simply not care for themselves, their feathers have secondarily simplified since they don't need them for flight and are easier too maintain.

This is amazing, I just have a question. Do T-rex have feathers on them? That would be cool xD

Is that a magazine? in that case I have't read that since I have no access to that in my country. However, I watch documentaries on youtube and it's pretty obvious that most predators including t-rex got into conflict with each other whether for food, territory or mating.

Yeah, it's probably the only magazine in existence devoted solely to dinosaurs. Shame you can't get it.
