Description
Name: Frey
Physical Age: 31
Dragon Age: 1870
Height: 6’1
Time Period: 150 A.D.
Birth Region: Europe (Macedonia)
Element(s): Gem/Gold
Personality:
Even before he was shaped by his experiences, Frey was always a loyal and caring person. Open, eager to learn, and incredibly loving, he got along with others easily. On the other hand, his tendency to overthink things and to become emotionally attached--whether positively (dependency) or negatively (spite)--did him no favors during his captivity and hasn’t helped the scars that were left afterward. He can be clingy and self-righteous, and though he’s mellowed out from his youth, he isn’t above picking fights.
Strengths:
Adapts to situations well and thinks quickly on his feet
Sword and weapon-play; between his natural resonance with metals and his history as both an arena fighter, he is good at picking up weapons and finding a way to use them, even if he lacks technique.
Hard worker; has no problem picking up slack and putting a lot of effort in, though his determination can be seen as irritatingly hardheaded.
Creative; an artistic soul. Likes creating and decorating things (the gold threads in his own clothes have been manipulated into the weave with his magic)
Weaknesses:
Food hoarder; has a hard time getting himself to share food and resources
Bad at intricate plans, tactics, or planning too far ahead
Emotionally hot and cold; can be aloof, distant, and angry, and then whirls around to clingy, dependent, and fussed about what people think of him.
Having been forced to stay in and endure so much in human form for so long at the risk of a grisly death, his dragon form feels strange and frightening to him.
Background:
Frey’s life has been dogged by servitude; when he was a cocksure youth, he’d challenged a head of another dragon clan for leadership, only to be summarily trounced. The defeat had caused him to be forced into the lowest position under his opponent’s clan, his own family abandoning him to his fate. From the pack’s scapegoat, he scraped his way up, sharpening his claws and teeth and earning himself a reputation as a fighter that refused to stay down.
Eventually, he found himself by the side of the one who defeated him; never to receive anything close to the status he’d had before, but enough that his jaws and tail were feared by other clans.
Unfortunately, his adopted clan was eventually found by humans who meant to slay them. Frey escaped with his leader, hoping to hide in human form, only to be found by those they were fleeing. Frey watched his leader be butchered on the spears of men.
Frey himself was taken as a slave, and then gifted to a human monarch. He began his life in captivity as a gladiator in an arena, but as he changed hands down generations and across rulers (for what could be a better gift than a captive dragon?), his use changed depending on his owner. Some had a softer hand, treating him as a pet (or a bed warmer), others enjoyed throwing him into bloodsport for amusement, and still others simply threw him in the dungeon until their sons or daughters inherited him. The collar welded around his neck, made of a metal that’s near-impossible even for powerful dragons to break, prevented him from transforming for fear of crushing his own throat.
But kingdoms of men fall, and the time came for the one whose hands Frey was currently in. He found himself free and wandered, unsure of what to do with himself after century of having his fate declared for him. That’s when he heard whispers of Halcyon’s resurgence and turned himself in that direction, hoping to find a raison d’être.
Abilities:
Seismic Energy: Causes small tremors within the earth; because of his Gold element, he has more control and power in land with gold deposits.
Terrain Manipulation: Controls terrain to cause disturbances, such as sinkholes and landslides. His area of effect is rather small. Like his Seismic Energy ability, stronger in land with gold deposits.
Gold and Metal Manipulation: Can warp metals, with certain compositions being easier for him to transform than others. His gold transformation ability is far weaker than most other comparable Gold dragons’
Ore Detection: Sensitivity to ores and deposits.
Bonus:
