that's am amazing interpretation, it's truly interesting! it's awesome to see God's word teaching many things at the same time. You're right
it's a more updated look. we look at harsh punishment as " Justice" when we really mean revenge. But God's justice is in his mercy
not at the expense of judgement but through his mercy( he passed judgment on our sins by paying for it himself) now he can extend to us grace and mercy and forgiveness. Now the people dont want to see righteous judgement rather they want a deterrent judgment that will strike fear in the hearts of others so the act won't be repeated. The Jews challenged Jesus on this with the woman caught in adultery

Oh i get it now
Never mind
The reason why i put it in this piece to show that many time God's judgment is thought of as revenge.
What we categorize as "justice" is revenge a typical example is one wanting the villain to die painfully at the end of a spy movie.
a biblical example would be the woman caught in adultery, they wanted to kill her because of it.
Some of us often look at deterrents(making sure no one does the crime by making an example out of someone) and rehabilitation( changing one's entire personality so they won't repeat the act) as righteous judgment. It shows how we are focused on preventing the action and make sure it doesn't occur again rather than giving what we all need what Jesus gave to us , hope.
the way God's judgement and mercy is met out is not through the expense of his judgment, but through his judgement is his mercy carried out
when he died, he paid the price( that was his judgment) that he may extend mercy and grace to us.
( i hope im not sounding like i was mad at your comment and tried to make it look bad
im really appreciative, it taught me something, the way i used it i had that mindset of no mercy )

Oh i see
i watched a few videos of missionaries who went in the middle east and the guy said that that the news is saying is totally different that what is going on. God is impacting lives like never before and there are massive revivals like never before(quiet ones though)
and another thing is Christianity doesn't promote violence, our heart is centered on giving to others, comforting and bearing one another's cross in love and compassion, fogiving others and making mention of ech other in our prayers to God for their betterment and stregnth in struggles
but back to the violence part
i don't know if you ever heard about when the soldiers came to take Jesus and peter cut of one of the high priest's servant's ears. Jesus rebuked him and healed the lad
and when he was before pilot he said that his kingdom is not of this world, if it were so his servants would fight that we wouldnt be imprisoned. so you see any deterrence from God's word ends up in chaos.
i learned that if a Muslims killed a christian they believe they get a free "ticket" to heaven
in the gospel of John Jesus said
"They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service. And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me."
God is love and peace and joy. The gospel does not give the message of forcing beliefs on others, like the scripture says in this picture that we love because he first loved us and he has drawn is with love, not with threatening
it's the free will of man is what caused this for God to intervene at every moment of danger would mean him being a tyrant, who controls our every move and thought. In
" I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:
That you may love the LORD your God, and that you may obey his voice, and that you may cleave unto him: for he is your life, and the length of your days: that you may dwell in the land which the LORD swore unto your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them."
but rest assured that God has a plan to end all suffering
if you have'nt sought him please do so you won't regret it
he's a person, not just a thought he will reveal himself to you
he will he will he will
I hope im not sounding defensive in any way , i really want you to know that Christ is the giver of life he wants nothing more to have a relationship with you

It's not God that bothers me! It's what his followers do in his name! Religion is a plague! An infestation! We have to get rid of it if we want to grow as a race!

The problem is extremists. your view of religion is radical in and of itself, calling it an "infestation" (likening us to bugs or vermin) is quite an accusation toward people who aren't even threatening you in any way.
