Usually people are fast with critics, there is always someone to comment on everythingβ¦.but when I came across your illustrations I stoppedβ¦. They are excellent!! I especially like you artwork βNadjaβ for its simplicity. My first guess was you made them on a trace image or you have aided with LiveTrace in Illustrator β only guessing :0)
Personally I work as a graphic designer and I have seen many graphical illustrations over the years. As a former/on/off animator my comment will be on the eyes, you have achieved to bring her to live in a simple way β this is a puzzle to many animators to achieve.
I also looked at you other illustration βMichelleβ β this is also superb illustrator work. But as you will find out it is harder to archive the same gratifying end result β βthe more detailed the artwork is; dos more details are missingβ. This is a known issue when working/animating with The Human body.

How did you get those eyes to look so real and glossy? Those are fantastic!

Well, I use Illustrator don't know if you use that or not. First i make the whites of the eyes, i usually use a gradient for that. Next, I make the base color of the iris on the bottom layer.... then I add the lighter colors on the next several layers, overlapping them and changing the gradients so they blend really well. Next I add the pupil and then the white highlights and the darker ring around the iris. That's pretty much it. I'm not a very good teacher, but if you have any questions feel free to e-mail me and ask.
