theres a lot goin on here. i dont know whether this is a compilation of photos or just something abstract, so i cant really critique this. one thing though, the watermark really detracts from the monochromatic tones of the image.

Very cool! Is it a compilation of photos? It's really neat, but as far as critique I can't offer much simply because I don't have a lot of experience with this stuff. Sorry.

Yah, I see what you're saying about the abstract theme of this image. I had a bit of trouble finding the surrealism here, but I can understand why this might be inspired by surrealism. See, when I saw this, I thought of this cool metal sculpture I saw at the Museum of Modern Art, but I realized your image is really the opposite. See that piece, which I really wish I knew the title of, was about creating a construction which, while dense still allowed light to pass through it in an ornate way. Anyhow, you've created a very industrial feeling dense metal sculpture impression in my mind, but with the overtone of darkness instead of light.

I see how this is representational of despair as it is so appropriately titled. The cold, lonely aspect of metal, the unknown and psychological fears that come with the dark combine in to make a defining effect on the viewer. The chaotic element of the scene also adds to the sensation of loss, as one is lost in confusion when they are feeling cold and dark as in despair. Finally, the use of inorganic shapes, stiff and sharp makes the scene jarring to the eye and provoke an even stronger emotional reaction. That is my impression of this piece.

Wow, this is cool. It makes me think of a city, but in the same way not a city.
