Description I am not sure what category to put my work into. I use a camera, paintbrush, pens, and Photoshop. This is the first post for me in about 5 years. Let me know what you think.

Here are the pieces before I edited them

As you can see, lots of editing... it is fun looking back at what I was starting with.

I would call this a digital collage...the textures are incredibly convincing, great job!

Glad you like. I was looking through your gallery and I must say I like how you crop many of the close ups making them almost abstract. I am a sucker for texture and detail. When the overall composition remains compelling its a bonus! nice work.

thanks i actually take a lot of them like that and do very little cropping on those
i love the abstract beauty of flower

maybe crop was the wrong word... framing, yeah I like the way you frame the image? I didn't mean to imply you edited the photo after it was shot.

I did check it out. There are a lot of emotionaly charged pieces. Most nudes have little to say other than "look at my croch." Your work seems to be deeper. I love kara. It somehow reminds me of the feeling I had when a long lasting and loving relationship came to a close. There was no ill will just a heavy farwell.

An instant fave... for me

The works you posted on this thread: reminds me of a contest from worth1000.com called Pygmalion - where they merge real-life images with cartoon characters or characters from classic works. Here's the [link] ygmalion&displayhotoshop&id=11087

Thanks for the link, and the kind words. I use to play around with photo manipulation all the time. Now I am just trying to use only what I have shot or drawn. I have been having a ball.

You manipulate water colors masterfully. I'm jealous. Everytime I tried using them I had to outline it with a dark sharpee and it turned out like crap.

Yours on the other hand didnt at all and that angers me. >

Hey, just though you might want to see how it was created, I added scraps to show what it looked like before the editing...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 0

rasonjowe In reply to ultranic-comics [2006-12-30 09:05:44 +0000 UTC]

It looks like water color but it is actually acrylic ink. Not that it is any easier to manage… but you do have to plan ahead and preserve your highlights. Work from the darkest colors to the lighter ones and paint in layers. I usually start with a few sketches then sometimes I will use pens to create the outlines or just free ball it. It is definitely fun and rewarding, keep at it and thanks for the complement.

Pablo Picasso (I hope you have heard of the famous artist) painted a lot of sunflowers and he was also bat-shit crazy. He cut off his ear as a political statement. My comment was in reference to that.
