stuck with her from ME 1 and did not romance no one in ME 2...luckily, getting the paramore achievement was way too easy to get. Who knew it just took a new hair do to give her a straight up sexy look.

I just realised what I don't like about her upgrade-it's the blush on her cheeks. They look like she's had botox or something. Everything else is good though.
Hopefully she's as badass as before and not a newly emerged Miranda 2.0.

I agree, the make-up is a touch too much, I hope she won't always have it on. But I can deal with that. She's not as mirandafied as I had initially feared, so sure. I like her hair though = )

he, yes her female charms (or whatever) are indeed highlighted, but I think that's partially due to that we only saw her in armor (doesn't give you that much info to go on, since the, uh, bumps in the armor can hardly be taken for actual size) and the alliance uniform (or cerberus for that matter) makes breasts in general look extremely small.
Her character is indeed what matters most to me, but I also would like her to keep her pragmatism. I might be on of few out there but I really don't like the thought of having a military woman running about in high heels. Ash's heels are actually fair game, but anything bigger than that... it seems out of character. But I do interpret Ash (and my femshep for that matter) to be somewhat tomboyish. So I might be biased here.
Her hair is awesome, I'll give her that and since I know she'll have it tied back in armor I'm totally okay with the new design.
MShep will be happy indeed. Poor sod is only getting laid when the galaxy's at stake. No wonder he tends to be a bit moody. Oh well.

Word = D the poetry never bugged me. When I romanced her I was kinda scared she wouldn't like Shepard or that I was doing sth wrong, since she kept mocking Shep for being "romantic". I think deep down she has a liking for romantic stuff, just doesn't wanna let it show because she has been told to push herself hard and not show weakness. And I can very much relate to that.
The racist issue is complete B.S. if you ask me. There is a line beteen realism and racism, and it isn't even s thin as some people make it out to be. When Ash stood up to that Terra Firma guy I was never more proud = )
Anyway, yes. Word. Tomboys ftw, there are not enough in any video games (which is why my canon is always almost female. So I at least have a chance to have ONE of them in my gamel.)

I liked it when it was in short bursts. But when it came to the romance climax () she just kept going and going and my patience ran thin.
Oh! That's rather sweet (2 minutes later) Ok, ok, I get the-dammit woman just jump him already! >_<
Agreed! She does have the tough chick exterior with a romantic INTERIOR. One of those I'm-gonna-bear-hug-you-when-nobodies-looking kind of gal, but-if-you-tell-anyone-I'm-gonna-bust-a-cap-in-your-@ss. I could also see he putting a bullet in anyone who approached her man. Kaidan...not so much. He'd look downright scary at the culprit, but Ashley-she'd make 'em run for their lives. Hm, dunno why I brought Kaidan into this.
The racism card popped up only the once during my playthrough when she was ragging on Garrus and Wrex, but then I realised she wasn't being racist at all. She just has major trust issues regarding aliens. That's not racism-just skittish behaviour. I still haven't got to the terra firma part but I'll get there! (I went back to corrupt Kaidan's firm behind before I finish up Ashley's) Their excuses in that point are relatively thin, seeing as she follows orders and doesn't make rude comments or start fights with the non-human crew members. You have to feel bad for VA, who probably saw all those comments of people saying Ash was racist and this and that and the other.
Tomboy female characters are either portrayed as softies or are taken to Tomboy ball buster extreme. They rarely (try NEVER) take the middle ground. Ashley's the first one who wasn't some kind of kuudere or Tsundere. I like tough, but not too tough. She strikes a good balance. Plus, I think she's hilarious with her quips every now and then.
Nicklebacks Gotta Get Me Some defines Ashley perfectly. (or the very least the God Almighty look at that body-) some might disagree and say its more miranda's but the type of music that goes with it screams Ashley. Ha! My younger sister's name is actually Ashlynne! I call her Ash (and biotch and monkey, in a good way) all the time! Got my pre-order of the collectors edition today. I'm one of the safe ones! woo!!

Haha, true! I rp it that she was teasing Shep, knowing that he was long overdue for some sexy-tiemz. And she succeeded really. Both her and Kaidan's romance dialogue at the climax are the best though. With Miranda being a close second because there is no dialogue. Hehe = )
I feel bad for her writer, who even composed a text with his idea of her character. I find it sad when writers have to excuse themselves for their characters, because for me, there is need for that. He did a good job (I think the writer was male... wasn't he? oO I only know Kaidan's by name) and Ashley is one of the most beautifully complex female characters ever met. Miranda scared me a little, being all fanservice and all, but after thinking a bit about it, I realized she is more than just testosterone-bait. Her outfit is one big gratuitous butt-shot though.
Oh, Ashley is definitely the jealous type, professional sure, but apart from that... by the way thinking of this I have "move, bitch" by I-forgot-who-it-was in my head... hehe.
But I'll wager Kaidans is a jealous type too. Not the "I'LL SMEAR THE WALLS WITH YOU!" type but the "Excuse me, mister, I think the lady wants to be left alone."- type.
And if provoked... Well he is more than capable of defending himself and/or Shepard.
True, the most commonly used type of woman is the fragile one, I guess. With grace, and elegance and high heels and dresses~
Ah well. At least there are some women out there who can kick ass and be beautiful without three inches of make-up on their faces.
Ashley is incredibly beautiful, if not clichΓ© and that's probably one of the biggest problems most have with her. The second being Horizon, but I won't open that can of worms (poor artist here prolly thinks he has a shitloads of comments and then finds out we're only talking... oh well xD)
Cool coincidence! I don't know anyone with any name related to a fandom. Mind you I am from germany so the chances are not that big = P
Still not preordered CE, my brother will have to take care of that. I do hope they include some of the more important features (like that additional Squad Member) as a dlc. Don't know if I'll make it in time = /

Lol! Romance wise, with Miranda it looked as if she was busy thinking 'hmm...do I REALLY wanna do shepard?'
*shepard sneaks up and slobbers on her neck while pawing at her hips*
Miranda: hell YEAH I wanna do him!! *pounce*
Me: Steady on girl!! Damn! O_O Ashley played her sex scene with more dignity than THIS!
Ashley made him work for his prize, she teased Shepard to within an inch of his life. Gotta love it when she takes the initiative. As a female gamer, I found Miranda way too fanservicey. I've avoided romancing her because i just can't stomach siding with her in any situation. The butt shots were even worse. Her loyalty quest softened me a bit, but then I found out she was reading Shep's emails and promptly flushed whatever sympathy I had for her down the bog.
Smear the walls = Jack/Subject Zero. Now SHE caught my attention. Hopefully she gets more than a cameo in ME3, she was bloody awesome.
The scriptwriter has it rough. I think I managed to read about that somewhere. He pointed out that a particular party comment she had would come off as racist, even more so when he heard it vocalised, but no one listened to him and wouldn't change it. Poor dude.
Jealousy and retribution. Hm. Kaidan would be similar to me I think (if only just) Passive aggressive but hates confrontation. It takes a lot of work to set him off, or a very specific nerve to prick to get a violent reaction. Quick to jump to the defence of others, but completely ignores trouble aimed at himself. I have to agree with your perception about Kaidan though, a polite 'please back off' and then BOOM! When the idiot inevitably fails to heed the warning.
An Image just popped into my head at the thought of Kaidan's thoughts in regards to his very own Jealousy Retribution playing out like this-Politely introduce yourself, ask the culprits name, slide the conversation towards transportation (more specifically, what the person drives and where they parked it) then politely excuse myself, slip out back and set fire to their car. Kaidan could just use his biotics on the sly to blow it up when he pretends to go to the bathroom. Ashley on the other hand, would 'straight up punch' the person if the verbal back-off-bitch/asshole warning wasn't heeded.
Ashley = cliche? I saw her as the most realistic character of the whole bunch! She was a typical soldier, does her duty, doesn't take crap from anyone, and wont hesitate to voice her opinion's.
Really? Not one person? Hmm, does online meet-n-greets count? I think they say it's limited supply only to hype the purchase level. Get on his tail about it! But still...is there a game store near you that you can pre-order? The one i went to only allowed me to put down Β£5 instead of paying the whole shebang (Β£70) but i'm pretty sure it has more to do with the fact that if they don't get enough of the product they'll be buggered trying to pay back the money. I better get my CE or i'm going to freak out. I actually stood and had a conversation with the sales clerk who was asking me what was in the CE and we started in on why couldn't bioware just give a normandy figure or shepard figure instead of a fabric swatch and a lithograph.
People probably ARE wondering what we're talking about. XD
The wall 'o text...It grows and groooows!! β(β’β³ββ³β’)

Oh, sorry, I wrote that wrong! "If not clichΓ©", I totally forgot that in english that would say she IS clichΓ©. I meant the opposite >_<
Hmm I live in a very small town but I guess if I get my hands on the money I'll drive the 45minutes to the next bigger city with a decent game store.
In the end I kinda liked Miranda but in a rivalry sort of way and with a trusting, but in the same instance doubting Shepard. I also wouldn't pass up any opportunity to troll her.
Miranda: "Shepard, we can't go back and save all those people now! Rethink the situation!"
Shepard: "Miss Lawson, if you have any concerns about our operation, this would be the time to keep them to yourself."
Miranda: =___=Β°
Shepard:
As far as realism goes I thought both Ashley and Kaidan to be on about the same level, at least if you strike the whole I CAN MOVE THING WITH MY MIIIIIND from it. And the training.
But yeah, as I said, Ashley isn't in the least clichΓ©, I just messed up the sentence structure xD
Kaidan burning cars... this will now be my headcannon xD And it's not even that far-fetched if you go with the "it's the quiet ones"
I also see him burning Kalisah bint-sinan Al jilani's (did I write that right? Oo) car. On a frequent basis.
Then again I have this scene in my head where Kalisah is standing in a ow of paparazzis, watching beaten/very depressed Shepard going to the trial with Ash/Kaidan escorting them, and Kalisah spouting bullshit about Shep as always, and Ash/Kaidan go up to her, Kaidan in a cool controlled manner, Ash looking like she is going to blow up shit and then crushing Kalisahs camera and telling her to go f*ck herself. Ash literally, Kaidan in a cooler way. Because protective VS is awesome! = D
Ok, did I miss anything...? Ah yes, Jack! Loveeeee her. She's one of the persons I couldn't deal with in rl because I'm easily scared off (Fenris from Dragon Age is the another one) but I always get extremely protective and nursing about these characters. It's probably a bad thing I have a weakness for people with anger management probs. lulz. Anyway I loved her backstory and I hope we have her back in ME3 because she has soo much almost painfully obvious potential for character development. She also struck me as the most beautiful of the ME2 girls, face-wise. Mirandas look doesn't make Yvonne Strahovski's gorgeous look any justice (not even the trailer Miri, in my opinion) and I have no idea who Samara is based off, but I think her face model probably looks a lot more beautiful as well.

45 minutes? Takes less time for you than me. It takes me 1hour to get to the city-not that I mind, it's kind of relaxing seeing as I'm not the one driving (I'm kind of scared to learn to be honest and my sense of direction is terrible) so I just spend that time listening to the music or cracking jokes with my sister (who is usually the one driving)
I don't hate Miranda per say (the cutscene where she looks down with concern as shepard wakes up was sweet but in the beginning, yes i disliked her, later, not so much) but the whole 'The I.M would NEVER do that! there must be a mistake!' whereas my response to this was-Uh, honey? you WORK for the b*stard. You should know how he operates. > of COURSE he'd trick you into walking into a trap!
I liked the fact that she wasn't instantly loyal to Shepard, it took a bit of time and a little work-but Frosty they Snowqueen was a bit annoying after a bit, especially if you weren't male and drooling over the booty. (I'm a girl, I don't booty drool, but you get the point) thats my only complaint about non-romance characters. You can't just Be Friends. And I say Why The Hell Not?
The quiet ones are dangerous. I stand as tangible proof of that. Let's just say, I'm quiet and hate confrontation-but I've been described as being a pressure cooker. The air builds and builds until POP! No going back. No mercy. Complete freak out. May or may not involve violence. (depends on what set me off) Though really it only ever involves a screaming match with the person in question. I could count on both hands how many times my temper led me to violence in my entire life.
Al Jilani-how I enjoy NOT falling into your verbal traps. >;3 Ha ha! The image that just popped into head just now?
Al: And why did you kill 305k Batarians Shepard? Is it because you hate aliens?
Shepard: > who do you-
Kaidan: How'd you enjoy your trip Miss Jilani? *gestures towards the railing*
Al: Trip? What tri-
*Kaidan uses singularity! It's super effective!!*
Al: I will have my vengeaaaaaaance!! *splat!*
Shepard/me: ...That'll do beau. That'll do. *pats Kaidan's head*
I could see him blowing a car up and giving That Look that says 'what? I didnt do anything. And even if I did you cant prove it.' Ashley-well, gotta say I love straight forward women, but there's something damn impressive about a well thought out and executed plan of attack that can't be traced back to the person who launched it.
I'm with you on the overprotective part in regards to characters like Fenris and Jack. But I'd give them a wide birth in reality. I'd be nice and help when possible but snapping at me would make me bolt or sulk. Apparently they were going to make Miranda blonde but it didn't work for the character. Yvonne is very pretty I have to admit and the character design with M didn't quite measure up-but I do see similarities between them. But Jack-obviously a knock out kind of girl-hair or no, I thought she was rather attractive.
Protective VS, let us hope that gets to happen. Time to draw back the converted Kaidan fangirls from Garrus! (I do love Garrus though, ugh! Both G and K are awesome!) That whole Reach and Flexibility talk between Garrus and faithful femshep-
Garrus: I just don't know how to blow off some...steam. *wink wink*
me: Dammit Garrus! I'm trying to keep her faithful here!! Stop seducing us!! DX
They're the only two characters I adore for femshep. Though....the way things are going I'm starting to take a fancy to James Vega. I don't like muscle bound hulks, but from some of the spoilers I've seen....
...Woohoo!! Sign me up!
Rune Factory 3 has taken over my life. Haven't even had it a week and I can't stop playing it!! My character has already been semi-threatened by the chef not to make his daughter cry (who's a bundle of energy and she's swiftly gaining on Raven for waifu status.) The Inn Keeper has asked him what he thinks of her two girls and asked which one he likes most (thankfully I didn't have to answer) and Shara's family are driving me nuts (except the lil' sister, she's adorable) I just don't like Shara. Waay too fanservicey for the otaku's. But Raven.... Basically I've cut the number down to 5-
Raven.
Collette.
Sofia (she speaks in opposites, so when she says she hates you she means she loves you)
Carmen and Pia. (Pia's actually a mermaid and carmen is a fishing enthusiast with some serious brocon problems)

I'm only now working on my driving license, and I'm still horrible at it. As in Shepard-in-the-mako-with-pc-controls horrible. So no driving for me yet. Train service in germany is horrible too though, so I'm not out of my little village that often = P But yeah, probably going to pre-order CE still.
I'm a bit of an introvert myself, and a quiet one, and I too avoid confrontation. When forced into it for me it results in first completely irrational insults on my part to create as much pain as possible. then I start crying. I'm horrible at fighting too.
I never punched Al-Jilani myself because I enjoy it too much to embarrass her verbally. Also I like the wording of her paragon speech too much in ME2. The thing about remembering the name of every ship that was destroyed. My Shep is a Sole Survivor and I imagine her remembering all 50 names of her squadmates to, so that kind of felt extremely fitting for her.
I still would love Jack and Fenfen (he'd kill me for the name) in rl, but they'd prolly make me run off and cry in a corner. I am that much of a wuss. My father had a knack to make me an obedient child, and it hasn't worn off yet. It's made it hard to try to hold my ground against anyone. Especially people I consider above myself. Which are many.
Miranda was supposed to be blond and have the last name Solheim. They changed her last name after casting Yvonne, I believe, due to the accent. I think it fits. And I agree, that the black her completes her "Femme fatale" look better than blonde. Also, as a blond she'd recieve even more hate than she already does, I guess. Her loyalty to TIM is the most concerning to me, but I'm interested in how it'll play out in ME3 considering she sides with you if you destroyed the base.
I so so badly want a scenario were Shep is all down, beaten physically as well as mentally and VS has to save him/her. I would so love that.
But please no Ashley carrying MShep like Femshep carried Kaidan on Virmire. That is... I don't know. Not that I don't think Femshep isn't strong enough or that I don't like to f*ck with gender roles, but that scene is the reason I always send Kaidan with the Salarians on Femshep playthroughs. Canon be damned.
I love Garrus. I'm still contemplating wether or not I'll make a cheating pt with him, but hearing all the talk about consequences is kind of putting me off of it. I might do it for the lulz though. Can't let my MShep cheat on Ash though. Basically because none of the other female characters made me interested in romance enough to do it. None of them is his type.
Garrus romance-banter must be the most hilarious thing I have seen though. Absolutely epic.
Wah, no spoilers please! I'm still a spoiler virgin! I'm only in the Kaidan thread on the BSN becuase every other thred discusses spoilers and I'm trying to stay virginal here D:
Not that I don't want to know what happens, but I spoiled DA2 completely for me and the game lost all the WUMPH it would have had otherwise. I am prolly too emotionally invested in ME but I still wanna have ME3 hit me in the face like WOAH. Would be a fitting finale for the trilogy.
But I'm starting to like Vega just out of spite lmao. Because so many people saw him and dismissed him as an idiot meat-shield. I will laugh so hard if they make him as smart and witty as I think they will make him (we have Grunt and Wrex as brutes already, Zaeed too if you count him, don't think they'll make a third. )
Sooo, I appreciate the talks we had here, but I was gonna ask what you think about moving this to pm? Jut to stop messing with the poor artists head = P If you agree, you can go ahead and send your answer via pm = )
