I respect the intent of this, but I have to reword it, for the sake of the definition of "responsibility".

Responsibility for yourself means that any solutions you use, you accept the consequences of, knowing that only you can decide what decisions you are willing to live with. It means marrying only when you have the desire to be a good marriage partner, and only when you intend to keep that commitment because you decided it was worth committing to. It means not having sex until you are able to face the consequences of disease or pregnancy, and if you do get pregnant, it means taking responsibility and care for that child even if it was an "accident"--because you chose to take that risk.

It means refusing to let someone keep you from excelling at your aspirations, refusing to let any else run your life, and most importantly--refusing to blame others for your problems and failures. It means taking control of your life, with full willingness to be responsible for it and everything you do and everything you let be done to you. It means resisting the forces of society that say you are a victim, or anything else that you are not. It means not doing anything or believing anything unless it makes sense TO YOU.

"Responsibility to yourself" means you insist on being yourself, but not just that. It means being the best of yourself, bettering yourself, and being considerate to everyone else who want to do the same.

It means, therefore, the courage to think for yourself, to BE yourself, and to never make excuses.

Applies equally to men and women of any age.

i salute this. i've always wanted both genders to be more equal, having the same social advantages AND disadvantages. no matter what, it seems unfair in neither gender's favor. what you have done is put forward a quote that might not be seen by many, but at least seen by one
