I drew a unicorn last year and colored it this year.*hands fall off*
I don't know how long this took, but it took waaay too long.I don't like the fur texture..but oh well. o.O
References were used for the sky, but those were my own stock I take because I generally suck at clouds. x_X
No references for horsie parts, but I pretty much know what's wrong.
I usually draw myself as a red haired unicorn when I don't feel like drawing Ratrina. You've probably seen her already.

I'd suggest picking up a few drawing horses books, animal anatomy for artists books, or just plain out taking references pictures of horses and studying the way the face and body looks. That's what helps me out.

Oh wow...She is absolutely beautiful! Her mane and tail looks as if it's made of fire. I also like how you didn't do the traditional deer-skinny unicorn, too. ^_^

And thank you! He's starting to look a lot better now that he's filling out. The only thing that's driving me batshit crazy is the bald spot he managed to get ripped out...in the centre of his mane, no less. The turd. 
I don't mind the traditional unicorns at all...but it's nice to see a variety.

I like to mix and match how I draw unicorns, the ones with the unicorn tails are generally my favorites. I guess the textures alright. >.< I've been working on this all day, I guess I just rushed a bit so I feel it's not as good as it could be.
