Description This organism was obtained from the subsurface oceans of Enceladus — also known as the Atomic Garden — 700 million years hence. Whether the creature is of Terrestrial or Enceladian origin remains unclear due to mass hybridization and extensive retroviral DNA integration. It is thought to be of 'alien' origin, but it may well be convergent evolution of the long extinct coleoids into a vertebrate-like form by a near-total rearrangement of the body plan. The imperfect hydrodynamics and drag-focused paddles of Exosepias indicate the creature is a relatively slow swimmer, relying on its large eyes to forage in the open ocean, feeding primarily on slow or immobile shelled organisms. However, it has also been seen ambushing small prey in the corridors of the plastic reefs. There is countershading for camouflage, although during the breeding season iridescence can appear. Exosepias breathes from a set of spiracles. It prefers to inhabit the highly radioactive zone by the derelict pumps due to the warmth, suggesting ectothermy. Several senses have been experimentally demonstrated — visual, tactile, thermal, electroreception, and olfaction. There does not appear to be an auditory sense, but it appears to be irritated by echolocative clicks.
