Ok, I'm spamming
Last one for today, I promise. This one might seem grossly mistitled & malcategorized, but its actually a 2-3000 year old pagan burial mound. 100's of them are scattered around the countryside here, though most of them have been destroyed by farmers. Quite alot of work must have been put into making the mounds. Upto 40 meters tall, death must have really meant something to these people. Now when we are too many, too average, too busy, we just dig 6 feet holes in the ground. I'll probably end up in a massgrave..

I got a very strange feeling when seeeing this one. Though the colours and the shades should give a feeling completely different than calm, tranquillity and calm were both the things I felt when seeing it! In Ancient times most people thought that the souls of their beloved ones will find their peace within nature, in the wild places surrounding their community. The spirits of the dead ones will continue to exist in other forms and shapes. But considering the hight of the place, I would go for a solar ritual too... Anyway, very interesting!

i love the photo and i love the history of ur home country but i dont wanna seem like a know it all...but those "buial mounds" were never actually used as a place for burial...most of the time they were used as solar observatory's and sometimes ritual animal sacrifice...a couple of th burual mounds were also used as birthing chambers
