as much as I would of like this, after what Xera tried to force him to change, I was like, yeah, she deserved it.

Nice design on him! I enjoy Illidan's character, so I'm glad he didn't go that route. Never did trust the talking wind-chimes, all the way back in BC. They're awfully heavy handed with how they handle situations! I think Illidan didn't accept it was because he'd earned everything he already has, and didn't want things simply handed to him on a platter. Plus the theme of "no chosen one, we're all in charge of saving ourselves" fits in well with how our characters are the ones thrust into leadership roles: it won't be any one person who saves the world, everyone has a part to play. Khadgar comes to the same conclusion in his Karazhan cinematic as well. That said, I love this design. He still looks grumpy, which fits with his character.

Thanks for the comment <3 I think the exactly same thing. Blizz did a good job showing that the Naaru aren't about all good.

Nice design.
Now if only Xera wouldn't have tried to basically rape Illidan to get him to join the light.

Yeah.
I think Illidan is a really interesting character because there's a lot more to him than just what's on the surface.

I'm glad he didn't accept it either. Not so much just because I like Illidan, because like...Illidan needs to learn some chill and the Light would have helped I think. BUT...she literally tried to FORCE IT INTO HIM and at that point I'm like...nah, do your worst, Illi, she has it coming lol

That's exactly what I thought! I mean, Illidan makes some pretty dumb decisions, but in the end, they were his choices, so I mean...I can respect that. Her forcing him just totally flipped the switch, and imo makes her no different than him in that moment. Because they both seem to have had a "i must do this no matter the costs because the ends justify the means" sort of thought process!

I was kinda hoping he was going to change just because i was curious of what kind of model Blizzard would end up making.

I don't play WoW, but i love the cinematics. As an outsider i didn't understand why he didnt took it, seemed edgy and HIGH fantasy in the purest essence

There is a lot of theories about it. Some say that the Naaru got corrupted some time ago, and he sensed it. Some say he has so much fel that the light really hurts him. I just think that he suffered so much, did so many things, and finally got where he wanted. The light was going to erase him, he will become another person, not the Illidan we know.

I think, based on the novel and the lore, I could agree to this a bit, though it's entirely selfish reasons I think, that Illydan didn't go along with it, not that the Light hurts him or corruption. He's never been one for prophecy, as we see through the Xera quests in Legion- he does absolutely everything his way and has the power to make sure it happens. In the novel, he had already figured out how to get to Argus and was preparing to do so when we decided to go and beat him up while he was weak. I think getting so close to seeing his plans finally coming together without the Light did indeed make him reluctant to go that route. As he said as well, he's traded his freedom for power before. Following the Light which he already sees as restrictive would definitely be throwing his freedom away, again, after he's spent 10k+ years as a prisoner with Maeve (however the heck you spell that) and again after he was defeated at BT, and with Gul'Dan in WoD and this timeline. In the novel, that I remember anyway, there wasn't anything suggesting that the Naaru were corrupt and that Illidan sensed anything like that from them at all. In fact, one had saved him while he was traveling through the Twisted Nether and figuring out where these other planets were, so I doubt it's that. I wouldn't really say that the Light is corrupt now, but Xera did do a dumb. Part of me is super curious to see what Illidan could have been, but I'm glad the writers stuck to their guns for once and kept him IC. Frankly, in order to have changed, he would have had to be forced to do anything like what Xera wanted anyways.

I can't agree more. Actually I have no idea where people get the idea or proof that the Naaru are corrupted, its just something that I see a lot of my friends talking about. But for me is BS

There are different groups that follow the Light in game that are a little on the shady side, but otherwise... Not sure where they get that idea either. It may stem from what the Light is based on, which irks me greatly because they get it wrong, but we'll let that one go. not enough energy to go on about that soapbox. lol

I see, thanks for the info. The fictional world that Blizzard created is fascinating.
