In honest.... I like them both.....
Left looks like it is using water colour and maybe pencils and right looks like it had and fine tip for the details.

I think the greatest change has been in the effect,
tough not better or worse, but a different direction altogether.

These almost shouldn't even be compared, both them are really enjoyable to look at. Both pieces have their own feel to them, the 2017 one I like how you can see the entire dragon, the 2019 one I like the bubbles and how different parts flow in an out of the frame.

I really enjoy seeing these two side by side. I agree that your style hasn't changed much as these two are definitely the same dragon/creature and very comparable. One thing I do really like that I see as an improvement is the definition of all the scales patterns. I wish we could see its peacock-feathery tail in the new one because I think that would really show off the definition, but even with the tail submerged, it's still an impressive piece. And you can definitely see some improvement!

I'm really glad you enjoyed this piece! ;v; Well, the reason I drew the tail submerged was that it just didn't fit on the paper in any way @_@ At first I really wanted to show its colors in all their glory, but... yeah... I chose a pretty small format for this. But then I imagined how its huge oar-like plates were slightly protruding from the water like some rocks or water plants, so I liked this option as well. So, maybe someday I'll draw and compare another one!

By all means do it! This dragon creature is super beautiful and has a cool concept, so it deserves more spotlight in some art pieces! I do like the idea of the scales/plates sticking out of the water. It really gives the image a setting compared to the original where the dragon is just floating in a space. Adding a background of any kind can really improve any piece, I think.
Also I forget to mention but the bubbles are ~*gorgeous*~

Well then, materials were a much better choice. I love this one is about improvement on coloring technique over other aspects, the newer shows much better coloring definition, yet the change in pose is very nice too. That’s a lot of patterns, you have great patience

Thanks! I even think that this rather shows not a progress in drawing skills, but a reflection of a change in my mental state. From depressed and irritated to calm and peaceful. Because in the last couple of years my life has undergone great and very important changes that have radically influenced me for the better.

Yeah, he is indeed amazing, but I mean that it's just a cropped image of a fanart I've made some time ago. I would rather make a complete logo, with which I could sign my artworks and present them more neatly so that it would be easier for people to recognize me as an artist.
