ok i found the video...you did a great job, I can see whats going on in the left image. It was the right side that confused me = but that's what he drew too! Now that I watched the video I can see that the lines on the abs are not actually that pronounced on the model...it's to learn where they go. It shows the curve of the lower stomach as it is turning, which is cool but I just didn't understand what was going on
So much to learn! Also I had no idea abs were not symmetrical!

OH so that's what you were confused by, I could have told you dude!
He was just showing the gesture of the abs while showing the forms (you can see slight shadows where he put the shadows).
