Description I have no idea what kind of mushroom this is. I don't think you should eat it though.
I love how the forest behind my house grows all kinds of purple mushrooms for a few days every autumn. I was very happy that I managed to get a nice photo of some of the purple shroomies this year.
Maybe purple mushrooms aren't very rare, I have no idea, but I always feel like they're a bit special. A bit unreal. Like fairy mushrooms!

Edit: I have been informed that this mushroom is called lilac bonnet or lilac bellcap, mycena pura, and it is indeed poisonous.

There are two species incredibly similar to Mycena pura - Mycena rosea (rosy bonnet, poisonous) and Mycena pelianthina.

Yes, I saw those in the mushroom guide.
I don't think I've actually had the privilege of seeing a Mycena rosea in real life, but I'm quite certain there are plenty Mycena pelianthina each autumn though.

I think I've seen only Mycena rosea.

There's a type of pink and white, quite chewy, candy mushrooms here in Sweden. These mushrooms remind me a lot of those and I want to eat them! But... best not to.

Ooh, that's interesting! Do you know what those mushrooms are called? I'd love to see one!

They do look like they should be magical. That colour looks so... wrong.

Is that a little slug on the edge of the right hand one?
Nice clear image of them. Did you have to lie on the forest floor to take it?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RavenMontoya In reply to artjuggler [2017-10-18 21:12:39 +0000 UTC]

Yes, it's a slug. Slugs don't seem to mind poisonous mushrooms, somehow.
And, yup, I did lie down on the ground to take this photo. But it was dry so it was ok. And I was down there picking other mushrooms anyway.

Haha, I know!
De ser också lite fejk ut. Nästa som glassvampar. Men de kan tydligen vara giftiga som fan så... bäst att låta bli.

They're quite nice-looking!  But then I tend to like the looks of shrooms.

I think they look very nice. Mushrooms are fun to look at. Such interesting shapes and colours. That some are deadly just makes it more interesting, I think.

Hey, you even got a tiny slug on top of one of the shrooms! A surprise guest!

These are poisonous... but, hey, at least they are pretty and they make a pretty pic.

RavenMontoya In reply to EstigiaKinslayer [2017-10-17 17:37:12 +0000 UTC]

Yup! The slugs love all mushrooms, it seems. Poison or no poison.
I've always assumed that mushrooms with such an unnatural colour must be poisonous. But you're right. They're very pretty.

Poisonous, these are lilac bonnets (Mycena pura)

RavenMontoya In reply to AgateTurtle [2017-10-17 17:17:54 +0000 UTC]

Oh, thanks! I assumed they must be poisonous with that colour.

Some purple shrooms are adible, like the amethyst deceiver (Laccaria amethystina and the wood blevit (Lepista nuda)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RavenMontoya In reply to AgateTurtle [2017-10-17 17:24:37 +0000 UTC]

Wood blevit can show up in my lawn at times. It is so very tasty! I love that mushroom. It's rare to find it though.
I've seen plenty of amethyst deceiver, but I didn't know you could eat them. Have you ever tried them?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AgateTurtle In reply to RavenMontoya [2017-10-17 17:29:36 +0000 UTC]

I have only seen amethyst deceiver a couple of times, I only tried the wood blevit - it is really tasty.

RavenMontoya In reply to AgateTurtle [2017-10-17 17:33:19 +0000 UTC]

I checked with my mushroom guide. The amethyst deceiver can contain arsenic so it's not deemed edible, in Sweden at least. I think I'll just leave them be. They are very pretty to look at.
