What the hell is Death up to? What did he possibly do to Raven? These questions reeled in my head as Luna drove us to the cemetery. I could feel cold sweat trickling down one side of my face, and wiped it off with my sleeve. Luna, too, was silent. I clutched Raven's katana tightly, the handle strangely cold against my skin. After a few, tense moments we reached the rusty gates of the cemetery. A man about my age was standing there, in a loose shirt and pants. The man was dark-skinned, and he smiled grimly at me. Sean Reeve. Luna looked at me.

"A friend. I'm sure that you've somehow came across him."

"That's not what I mean. Are you sure that he will come with you inside?" I answered nothing, my conscience telling me that I may have put Sean's life on the line, telling him to come with me here.

"What do you plan to do now, Vern?" Sean asked, after I had gotten out of Luna's car. I sighed.

"Go in there."

"And then? What will you do after that?" I cast my gaze over the misty cemetery, and pushed open the gates. At once, something formless suddenly appeared from the ground in large numbers. They seemed to have claws that glinted in the last rays of the setting sun, and they moved slowly toward our direction, destroying the tombstones in their path.

"Are you prepared for this, Sean?" He pulled out two short blades, while I unsheathed the sword.

"Right on, Vern."

The moment I caught a glimpse of the sharp blade, I heard a faint woman's voice whisper in my ear.

"Hold me tightly in your hand and I will lead you to victory...." Undoubtedly it was the sword. Did it have a spirit?

I took a single step forward, seeing Sean move with high speed. And then I felt awake, as I never had been before - aware of every single leaf that the wind blows away, aware of every single blade of grass that crunches beneath our shoes. But their voices seemed so far away, and a second step ignited my adrenaline.

After a while of fighting, the sword seemed to have a will of its own, and it was incredibly powerful, and sharp. But the enemies seem to double.

"Vern! Behind you!" I looked back too late - a monster was behind me, ready to strike. But then, the monster burst, its gooey substance covering me from head to toe. Something bluish grazed my left cheek, and hit a tombstone behind me. It made a small cut, but I didn't mind it. Instead I looked at the blue shard that injured me. It was slightly translucent, and when I tried to touch it, it suddenly faded.

"Are you ok, Vern?" He helped me stand up.

"I'm fine, but that blue thing that you threw gave me a cut... but overall I'm ok." He raised an eyebrow.

"You sure? That my aura blades hit you?" he asked skeptically. "There's no bruise on you."

I looked at him and felt at my cheek. Certainly there was none.

"I swear that it did, Sean, I promise." Sean opened his mouth to speak, but he has interrupted by a sound - I don't know where else I could compare it to, but then a monster beat onto the transparent shield that protected the both of us.

"We haven't got time for chit-chatting, you two! There's no time to lose!"

We looked at Luna, her two arms outstretched toward us. She saved us. She then jerked her head beyond the thick wall of monsters, and I caught a glimpse of Raven, in a red sleeveless top, and I could hear her voice shouting, but I couldn't make out the words. Opposite her was a man's figure - most likely Death. But then, he pointed over us, and Raven looked directly into my eyes... there was something wrong. In a moment Death disappeared, but Raven said nothing, and walked to our direction, and raised her arm, as if reaching out for something. The sword then vibrated for a while, and soared out of my hand towards her. It happened too fast - in the space of a few seconds, all was heard was the sound of metal against wind, and mud falling onto the ground. And in the midst of this stood Raven.

"Raven!" I ran toward her, and hugged her tightly. "How I missed you..." I suddenly felt the cold blade against my skin.

"Let go of me or die."
